I wish the major lens brands would make more power zoom lenses. A lot of cameras with amazing video capabilities but hardly any video lenses.

This lens is great on the FX6 for event or documentary work. Being stabilised is pretty rare for Full Frame zooms. Internal zoom is really important also.

This is the mother of all other lenses and surprisingly affordable used. Fantastic build quality, parfocal and internal zooming: no protruding element when zooming from 28 to 135. No way a non-PZ lens could come even close to this lens, when you need that smooth creeping zoom. This PZ28135 is the lens I'd never sell, the other is Canon TS-E 17mm/f4 for my A7III. These are the only two lenses I'd ever need.

You didn't mention the second other thing this lens does that stills lenses can't, it doesn't breathe.

The reason for this lens is it won't give you that fugly breathing during focus pulls that all other Sony stills lenses do.

It's a fantastic set of useful focal lengths with ample speed at a very reasonable price.

Excellent lens, underrated, under appreciated and undervalued.

I film chamber music concerts with this lens on an FX6 or Alpha 7iv. I love the slow zoom and the focal length for this. It works excellently for this application.

i purchased this lens and it is perfect; i do documentary work, short films and sports, specifically basketball; i have prime lenses as well from sony for my FX3; but this lens right here is amazing; this guy seems to be bashing it and he keeps saying the same thing over and over, "you get a much sharper and cheaper lens" but he fails to mention the parafocal as well as the reliability and the stabilization in it with any sony A series;

i totally disagree with his review because his review was only from his perspective; we get it; you don't like it

The company i am working for has a great selection of lenses, but if i could choose just one, it would be this one. I absolutely love the smooth zoom, the constant f4, the IS, the rings, everything. My fav lens ever.

This lens is the go-to vasically only option for (Reality) TV shot with FX9/FX6. Powerzoom is necessity.

I love my 28-135. I am thinking of getting the 18-110 for my fx30 once it comes in. I did snag a 95mm threaded glimmer glass to soften the image even more.

Thanks for the review! I just found out about this hidden gem. 💎 I have the FX3 and was looking for a good power zoom cinematic lens. Picking it up asap. #legendaryitem

OSS Optical Stabilization is the reason to buy this lens! The Tamron 35-150 doesn't have OSS like many other lenses... If you don't want to use a gimbal or tripod, you need need Optical Stabilization.

I was between this lens and the Tamron a couple of months back, between scalpers and the not so wide 35mm max length of the Tamron, I went with this one.

There's some downsides such as the horrible weight and the $$$ filters, and specially on my R4, the not so sharp image.

But 28mm can really get you out of a pinch, and so does 135mm, I've barely needed to switch to a wider lens, stabilizing it on a gimbal is painful.

It got the excellent OSS, so good in fact I have used it handheld no problem to record interviews, wider range, aperture ring and being par focal over the Tamron, but I am really wanting to sell it for the Tamron and compromise on that ...

How can I control the zoom through a zoom controller? I want to zoom in and out through the tripod because I can’t reach the camera

My favorite video zoom - the best feature is actually that the lens doesnt extend when zooming. When using rigs and matteboxes having the lens not extending when zooming is a must. So its a professional eng style zoom lens with autofocus thats DIRT CHEAP compared to anything else in this category. You could get something like a fujinon zoom in the same pricerange for super35 but then no autofocus. For the price its a bit of unicorn really...

Will autofocus on a moving subject work when zooming? The goal is to shoot models walking up and down the catwalk while zooming in and out.

Do you know if the zoom for this lens works with one of the Sony remotes (Sony RM-VPR1) for the a7S3 or FX3?

Hello friend, good afternoon, how are you? I ended up discovering this lens today, and I'm impressed with the price, I live in Brazil, as you probably already know, everything is very expensive here, you have to look for this lens here in the neighboring country, it's costing 10, 600.00 reais, which is a good price, since a Sony 70 200 f2.8 gm II is around 12 thousand reais, but I saw that you talk about other options, could you tell me some? I know there's that 18 105f4 too, it's really cheap, it probably costs around 6 thousand reais, but I don't know for sure, but I'm kind of in love with this lens, but videography and photography for me are hobbies, so I wanted the maximum sharpness and quality possible, but I wanted a range more in this style, from 18 to 150mm or so, here in Brazil it's difficult to find good results, if you have good recommendations, I'd be grateful, thanks for the video friend!
