I think the worst coaching I've received is from someone who didn't take time to ask WHY I was doing what I was doing with customers (that I knew well and was adapting to their preferences) and simply proceeded to tell me how I should operate since that's how she does it. Coaching is about helping someone think of new ideas and to test them out - it's not about cloning yourself or providing the answers. What are your thoughts? Coaching is definitely a specific skill that needs to be practiced in order to be of real value to your team. Planning and listening are major components that are often forgotten!
