Amar-Sin was the third king of the Ur III Dynasty, which ruled ancient Mesopotamia from 2112 to 2004 BC. He was a successful ruler who expanded the Ur III Empire and built many temples and other public works. He also maintained good relations with other powerful city-states in the region, such as Elam and Assyria.
However, Amar-Sin's reign was also marked by a number of challenges. In 2024 BC, he was forced to put down a rebellion by his own son, Shu-Sin. He also faced a number of natural disasters, such as floods and droughts.
Despite these challenges, Amar-Sin managed to maintain the stability of the Ur III Empire for over a decade. He died in 2037 BC and was succeeded by his son, Shu-Sin.
