One thing I noticed was how Paul becomes even paler with dark circles around his eyes after taking the Water. It's a visual reminder that drives home how physically devastating the experience was to him, that no male in history before him survived and makes his newly-discovered Harkonnen ancestry visually apparent. He becomes even more ruthless and starts wearing black to show he's not much different from them at that point.

The reason that Paul and Feyd are roughly equal in their evolution under the Bene Gesserit eugenics program is that they were meant to be the parents of the Kwisatz Haderach. Jessica was ordered to bear a daughter to Leto, so that she could be wed to the Harkonnen heir (who turned out to be Feyd). Jessica screwed up their plans by having a son, rather than a daughter.

I didn't read the books but what I noticed in movie was how Chani is afraid of prophecy of her name. When Paul asked her what her name was, she said Sihaya and she didn't like it because it was name from some prophecy. And when Paul drank the Life Water and his mother forced her to help him, you can hear the prophecy, ,when the desert spring..." (I don't remmeber rest of it) but when she saved him prophecy fullfiled. And I think that's another reason why Chani was so pissed. Not just Paul completely changed and seems only she can see it, but she was fighting whole life for freedom and didn't believe in prophecies, just in herself and power of her people and even if she try so hard she ended up stuck and fuffiled prophecy like all the effort was for no use of it... (and sorry english is not my first language).

I just want to know how they get out of the sandworm after riding them

In Paul vs Feyd, Paul hits his chest twice before they begin duelling, Jamis did the same before fighting Paul in Dune Part 1

You made a mistake. Feyd and Rabban are brothers, not cousins.

Paul is a cousin to them both. You got that part right.

Anyone else notice the insane 1970's vintage Arri lens they used for the first scenes with the Emperor? That bokeh was TUBULAR

He also started wearing hair gel after waking up from the coma. XD

The fact that water kills the sandworms is one of the reasons that the final scene of the 1984 version is so utterly ridiculous.

Didn't miss any of those points - but thanks for the vid anyway. Was a good watch.

The one thing i think fell short in this movie is how they ignored the politics of the overtaking of shaddam IV by paul. The book makes it clear that paul will only marry the princess to have a claim over the throne, but chani will be his concubine and will be the one really sharing his bed and bearing his children. In the second book, that's the reason why the princess joined the conspirators to assassinate paul atreides.

No mention of Gurney's vow to kill Jessica for betraying House Atradies. Cut completely from both movies but in the book.

Upon my second viewing, I missed this line "you give water for the dead and it brings you joy". A cardinal sin for any Fremen, I was too caught up with story of the mother that lost her eye to catch it. I strongly suspected that Paul's crysknife was the one given to him by Chani. Reviewing the fight between Jamis and Paul. I believe it to be Jamis'. He didn't want Feyd dying with it. That is why he used Shaddam's knife for the kill. I'm uncertain though.

In my headcanon, Arrival is part of the Dune universe and the "aliens" were actually very, very, very early Guild Navigators.

Well done. But the great houses fall in line with Paul because he can stop the spice flow which would cripple space travel, and commerce between the worlds.

i predicted that they gon changed what happened to Rabban, in the book Gurney never even met Rabban in the end, making it the most anti climatic part of these 2 rivalry, and im so happy they did that

Did you really say "big run time"? The movie for its length was TOO LITTLE..

I’m so happy they gave chani agency in the movie, I related most with her character, it was clear Paul was going to become the protagonist after he obtained too much power. I wish they made it clear Paul was only marrying Irulan for political reasons and his true love is still Chani. Overall dune 2 is one of the best movies I’ve ever watched ❤
