I remember a lady telling me that her parents decided to pay for the formula for their twins. She was so grateful! I bet it was much better than a load of toys or clothes that would overwhelm them.🌞

I just use the same purse for everything. If I find a purse I like (I'm picky), I buy two so I have a replacement when the first wears out.

I don't have a junk drawer because I have no junk. It's an all-purpose drawer and use everything in it.

I buy keychains on my travels—-then use them as xmas tree ornaments, I love it.

Recently, I saw this quote from Francine Jay, "Minimalism is asking yourself why before making a purchase." Since I'm not a minimalist, I changed it up a bit - being furgal is asking yourself why before you buy. That's going to be my matra for 2025. Thanks for all of the great content. Happy New Year!

One way to curb impulses around home decor. Ask yourself, “Do I want to dust this for the next 25 years?” Now in my 80’s, I’m finding a lot of things that I don’t want to dust anymore! 💚No support for charlatans.

My only issue with fashion is actually finding good quality clothes that lasts... Nothing is made to last anymore 😔

💚Look into reusable silicone bags to replace your zipper bags. They are awesome, I bought mine last year at Aldi and they have held up so well. I have washed them by hand and in the dishwasher with zero issues. I do not use them to store meat though. Great video!

I love to sew and buy a thimble as my souvenir. It’s small and easy to pack, doesn’t take up much space at home, and fits me.

The backpack purse is revolutionary. I can find my phone, keys, library list, comb, lip gloss, sunglasses, etc. No more fumbling around the bottom of a huge bag.

Rather than souveniers, we bring back Christmas tree ornaments from each place. I love decorating my Christmas tree, and each year it's fun to bring out the ornaments --- it's like seeing old friends again. And as we decorate the tree, we remember the places where we've had those great memories. And when the kids were younger and felt the "had" to bring home a souvenier, they each knew hey could search for a Christas ornament, which sort of turns the shpping into a treasure hunt of sorts. And most museum gift shops sell amazing ornaments.

I don't like shopping for clothes and will practicality wear out my clothes. Lol. I quit buying Christmas wrapping paper, unless it was a solid color I could use for other holidays/events. I am now considering making drawstring bags for Christmas, as I have Christmas fabric already. Trying to find more ways to downsize.

Good tips, Thank You! I bought some slacks for work, that’s it. I paired down my closet. It was liberating!

I agree with you on life insurance... once the house is paid off and the kids are grown, I would rather put that monthly payment into a savings plan.

First time viewer and I just subscribed. Agree with everything you’ve said, especially Christmas over the top gifting. I admit to competing with the “other” grandmother but this year I said no! The grandchildren are working and in college and have almost reached the point of being able to fulfill their own wishes. I’ll still go crazy for my daughter but everyone else was gifted a simple tin of cookies. Put a lot less stress on this 70-something woman, for sure.

Plastic zip lol bags was the only suggestion that applied to me and I can’t live without them!🙂. But this video made me feel very good that I am currently not wasting money on any of these things! Thank you

Thanks for your list. Out of your list, the only thing that we've bought in years is plastic bags. I buy 100 1litre bags for 1.50€ and I split meat/fish from the supermarket. I buy a bag pack a year. I've used the same single leather handbag/purse for over 20 years. Thanks for another great video.

I have several designer purses for 20 yrs. I bought them when I was younger. Because they were such good quality they have lasted all these years so they were a good investment. I don’t buy trendy clothes but classic ones that will last years if properly taken care of. I don’t buy coffee on the outside. I take a 40 oz Stanley that stays hot for 6 hrs. The cup paid for itself already. I buy plastic bags and find them more economical than using silicone ones. I never buy cereal either except for oatmeal. Too many calories and it leaves you hungry an hr later. I cook mostly everything from scratch, just not breads. Mine don’t come out that well. I shop my supermarket and eat what’s on sale that week. I never go to the movies. Too expensive. I do pay for an Amazon membership because I feel I save shopping online and not going into stores and impulse buying. I do go over the top for Christmas and birthdays. I also do experiences with the grandkids. I want them to remember me fondly when I go. You know sometimes there is more to life than saving money for the future. You have to live life and enjoy each moment because as we age it may be our last moment.
