Thanks for the great information. After the winter, I was reported to the Ministry of Agriculture in Turkey for adding bleach to the sugar syrup I made to feed my bees. People thought I was doing an unhealthy job, even though I hadn't put the honey box in the hives yet. If I hadn't proved that it doesn't mix with honey, it would prevent me from doing beekeeping, maybe they would have culled my bees. Unfortunately, most of the beekeepers in my country could not understand the purpose of this process and reacted harshly by being prejudiced. Luckily, Bob had answered my questions about this before and saved me from worrying. Thank you again for being such a humble person.

Hey Bob.
I used to use the 5lb honey jars, but
I use a 1/2 gallon, WIDE mouth canning jar now, and just set it over the hole much like you do with the pails. It has worked fine for me for years and is much cheaper than the 5lb honey jars..
I also bought plastic lids to replace the metal ring/lid.
Metal lids rust and become very difficult to get on/off after a while.

Been watching videos about nutrition, the different types of sugars bees are typically fed. How they had pros and cons which dictated when best to feed each type, fascinating stuff.

Great 2 part series with very important information. On a side note, I just ordered a bottle of your Sourwood Honey. I had been patently waiting, lol. Get it while it’s hot folks! Blue Ridge Honey Company is the name of his business.

House of Cans in Lincolnwood, IIl (near Chicago)carries the 1/2 gal economy mayo jars. I have never ordered those from them but I have ordered #10cans and other large glass jars. They have always given me great service.

Thanks for all the good info, up here in mn, I like always have the 2 outside frames full of honey, minimum, when checking in spring, take your dead out, honey frames that are full and slide them in your big colonies on the outside if they need them, because like you said, they can starve in a hurry in spring, especially your bummer colonies, I've seen some with a lot of brood at that time.

Hello Bob. This is a great video on feeding bees. I am finishing up my apiguard treatments today. I like to finish up my apiguard treatments a little early. So if don't have the results I want. I can retreat with apivar. I will start feeding in a couple of weeks.

Great info Bob! I’m also a beek from Kentucky and I do the exact same thing to overwinter. I only run single deep hive management in my apiary and I will use a Vivaldi board over winter to feed my bees sugar. I pull the vast majority of their honey in the fall (except the stores in the deep) and feed sugar brick through the winter.
