In times of great uncertainty, such as the COVID-19 public health emergency, health professions students may benefit from additional mental health support. As an educator, you have a responsibility to support your students during these difficult periods. In this video, Dr. Amin Azzam provides four tips for you to manage your students’ mental health during public health emergencies:
1. Explicitly acknowledge that providing healthcare is stressful work.
2. Frequently check in with your students to show them that you’ve got their backs.
3. Highlight existing mental health resources at your institution that are available to your students.
4. Destigmatize mental illness and praise help-seeking behaviors.

i'm a student but i'm the one whos trying hard to check on my self. I don't wanna depend on them and won't expect something like this from them. Yes sometimes they'll ask "how are y'all feeling right now?" "how was your day?", I appreciate them so much because of that, but when these are asked not everyone can express, some are afraid to express. It's hard because im trying to look for myself but I also need to do things that are not healthy like doing so many things in a week, nonstop activities so i often forgot how to rest and look for myself. Right now i'm trying but I don't wanna be hard on myself, it is really hard and tiring, I wanna be a positive person but sometimes my system will just crashed and fail to be, i'm lost. I know im not just the one whos feeling this (ps. hey you're doing good, we got this). I hope everyone can cope up the unseen things during this time of challenges.

My comment here is further to some matters highlighted in social media about some teachers pressurizing students on online classes. The truth is that there are many students who suffer from mild to moderate stage psychiatric problems like inferiority complex, depression, ADHA, Bipolar Mood Disorder and so forth. Most school counselors nowadays are not experienced and qualified enough to deal with them and instead end up lecturing such students and even threatening them in ways where their conditions become worse. It seems that there is some kind of award offered to Principals and so forth to ensure that all students in a particular course at least pass government exams or get above a certain level. There are some teachers who if they find that one or more students may not make it especially due to some psychiatric problem, instead of encouraging them these teachers start saying things like "Drop the Subject", "You are not fit to be in this class" and so forth. This causes degradation to the student's self esteem and confidence level and makes it worse for the student. I strongly urge State Education Directors and related officers to carry out a surveillance of this matter as many students have had their lives spoilt and career ruined because of such teachers. Please remember their parents are taxpayers and these teachers are public servants. These teachers behave as if the school belongs to them. Remember not all students can afford to go private schools and international schools. Furthermore if a student is going to stay in Malaysia and pursue his career here, it would be best for him to follow the school system and if possible get into a UPU university/college. Some of the school teachers are too egoistic and are attempting to kick out students from the school system due to their idiosyncrasies. All those concerned please take note of this matter.
