Get started with the ESP8266-01 module with the Arduino IDE!

Arduino Boards Manager Link:

Link to breadboard layout & code in this video:

NOTE:
I forgot one part that is necessary for uploading to the ESP8266. Make sure to also have a pull up resistor from GPIO2 as well - I used a 4.7k Ohm but anything from 1-10k should be fine as well. Take a look at the Fritzing diagram on my Github for a corrected version of the circuit.

Hardware you'll need for this tutorial:
Breadboard
ESP8266-01 Module
FTDI (or similar) 3.3v USB to Serial Adapter
USB Cable
5 Male to Female Jumper Cables
4 Male to Male Jumper Cables
Small Extra Jumpers
LED (Any Color)
220 Ohm Resistor
4.7k Ohm Resistor
Pushbutton

Though sometimes the video's seem to move a little slow, I REALLY appreciate the completeness of them. I'm currently going through your MQTT set! One thing that would help us people with older eyes and not the best site would be while your demonstrating code in the IDE would be to have the "full screen" available, large text. Keep up the great work!!!

What, no annoying dance music only audio... no super thick Indian accent... is this even an ESP8266 video??? Well done... thumbs up.

Amazing ESP tutorial beginner series! That also tie in with you home automation series. Thank you for both! When you get the chance can you also talk about how to update ESP firmware and setting up "sleep" feature on ESP to conserve battery power.

Nice Tutorial. I have a question. I want to use the IoT SDK from Amazon in a smallest chip possible for an IoT use case. For device connectivity AWS provides an SDK in embedded C and Node.js. Can i integrate it directly to the ESP8266 ? Moreover i would also need to place some certificate files on the device. Is it possible using the ESP8266? What are your views on this?

Please update the description to use the correct Aurdino Boards Manager Link:

The old file has been removed so it doesn't work at all. You will get an error message "Error downloading file" and the old board manager link.

hi @ItKindaWorks, Good tutorial, I've tried it and it works. Thanks!
But why in my case when usb cable is removed, and reattached the uploaded program does not exist? Back as early, empty.

Why it is necessary to pull up GPIO2 and it worked without it?
Also, Is it electrically correct to pull up an output pin?

Can you link to products in Amazon to build this? Thank you for your videos!

I had to remove my low quality LED on GPIO2 in order to make it work!
