NEW Navigation Pane in Excel #shorts

Показать описание
Excel for Microsoft Office 365 gets a new navigation pane! This makes it easy to get an overview of the workbook's layout, see what elements exist within the workbook, and navigate directly to those elements. You can quickly find and access tables, charts, PivotTables, and images within your workbook.
Once you've opened the Navigation pane from the View tab, it displays on the right side of the Excel window.
*Currently available in Insiders, Beta.

I just wish that some of these features would be available when they are announced. I have Office 365 Enterprise and made sure to update regularly. Dynamic arrays took over a year. Power Query data types took 6 months. You almost forget about these features when they do come out. It makes it even worse when you are part of a company (all with 365 - same versions) but can't share features because part of your team may not have them and others do.

This shorts format is really cool. Helps learn something quick in brief free time pockets. Keep them coming 👍🏾👍🏾

I wrote an add-in to do this twenty years ago. Well done Microsoft for eventually catching up with your users.

I am really happy to see that Microsoft Excel is adapting some features from PowerPoint!! The new navigation pane is like the selection pane in PowerPoint!! Thanks Leila...

I'd like to see an option to group, tabs and be able to collapse groups

Wish they would give us a naviation pane for our open workbooks. So annoying when you have 10 files open and have to Ctrl+Tab or Alt+Tab to move between them.

It's amazing how many impatient commenters state that they cannot yet access this new functionality. Leila has clearly stated in both her audio and the video (especially the splash screen) that the function is not available to general users of Excel 365, only select beta testers. Be patient folks, and use your time more productively. Microsoft is still testing it. I'm sure Leila and/or MS will advise when it's ready.
I am curious about whether the new nav pane will include names/addresses of a sheet's named regions/cells, a subset of the Name Manager's data.

Leila, I saw your Alt>W>K shortcut response to an earlier comment. Is this shortcut (and its tab bar button) for sheet navigation consistent with current practice?
Is this functionality also an option via the bottom left arrows' Activate pop-up box? Will the new sheet navigation pane be docked only on the right side?
For comparison, Adobe Acrobat has a toggle to display/hide a static left pane that has selections for page display, attachments, layers, et al., and a right pane for quick tools access.
A similar approach could be used to toggle Excel's left pane among the new sheet navigation list, find/replace, defined names, macro execution, etc.

This looks great. I am hoping this will make it easier for people who use Job Access with Speech (JAWS) and NonVisual Desktop Access (NVDA) to navigate through Excel sheets and workbooks.

This will make my "table of contents" tab with hyperlinks to each tab unnecessary. I'm totally OK with that!

WOW! Thanks a lot for sharing this, Leila. Life's gonna be much easier, and I should complain much lesser when working with Excel starting now. Hahaha! ❤️

Could find all of the sheets in prior version of Excel if you knew the method; but the objects maybe a benefit. Now will have to make sure that hidden sheets are password protected or there is no point in hiding them.
