I wish more of these reviews can discuss long term reliability and battery life, they are pretty important too as you will have to use them for a long time.

2 misstatements. 1) The Schlage Encode can accept other cylinders, there's just one screw holding in the cylinder. 2) The Schlage Encode can also integrates with AirBnB. The higher security rating, the superior construction, and the 3 year warranty go hand-in-hand, and made it the logical choice for me. After all, all tech aside, you want a lock that will best secure your property.

One comment on WiFi: 5GHz WiFi is not "5G." Small but important thing to note.

PLEASE NOTE: Early 2000s, I went with Schlage as their locks have high security rating (mentioned in video). But, after 1 year, you could literally see the numbers pressed on my keypad (big negative) as the Schlage interface is not glass like the Yale. I called Schlage and they sent out a new one with no problem (plus on the company). I plan on going with Yale since video confirms re-keying to any other brand which is big. Also, the glass interface should eliminate (hopefully) the wear on the numbers and ability for threats to figure out passcode.

I really appreciate the review. After having installed many of the various smart locks, I agree with your favorite. Your channel consistently offers great information, and I, as a fairly new locksmith, appreciate it!

2.4GHz is preferable to 5GHz (not 5G) because of greater range. Your dead bolt doesn't need a high data rate, which is really the only advantage of 5GHz.

I live in FL and have had absolutely terrible luck with Schlage. The Encode is not weather sealed therefor it easily goes down to corrosive salt air and, even worse, humidity! They are constantly dying. Warranty has replaced them but it is a huge hassle. Schlage support acknowledges the Encode has issues, and engineers are working on a fix. I just converted to Yale out of frustration.

Good reviews. I appreciate that you as a professional highlight the features that are important to a lock. So many other reviews talk about the tech stuff only, and skip over the core lock functions. Speaking of which, I read that Kwickset drain batteries very quickly. Is that your experience? How do these brands compare on battery life?

A lot of features on the upgraded Yale lock. Very smart of them to include AirBnb integration, that's gonna get them a heap of sales! Other lock manufacturers would be wise to follow suit. Also the flexible barrel type replacement is very sensible.

Have been using a schlage for years, not this model but basically their first model since probably 2008 or later and still works. Gotta replace batteries more often but works well otherwise.

I need the one that is bump proof and next to impossible to pick. That would be my top choice overall. Battery life isn’t that much of an issue because you do have a key if the battery runs low or down. I would like it to alert my phone if someone is trying to enter my home aswell.

No sir, You can change the cylinder of the schlage encode to any other keyway, like plug in a GMS cylinder for kwikset, just use the original tail piece. I am a locksmith and I did that multiple times.

Can you do a review on locks that arent meant for deadbolts? For those of us who wish to install one INSIDE the house rather than outside, such as for garages/home offices/bedrooms etc.

Do I want the Yale Assure or the Yale Assure 2? Your site does not list the Assure 2 yet.

2.4ghz wifi is not a problem, these products do not transmit /receive a lot of data. 2.4ghz has better range so with a lock far from a router it will work better
