That could summarize his entire character, god I love this show

The beauty of Jayce saying “Humans don’t live for centuries” after the scene or Viktor in the hospital, shows a massive side of his character that I think a lot of people overlook.

The most underrated character of arcane. A lot of people just don’t get the character or don’t understand his writing. It’s a shame because he is such a great character.
He is my favorite character and thank you to give him some credit and respect.

Honestly, I didn’t like Jayce at first. He seemed way too over his head, egotistical but ignorant, lacked backbone, and seemed kinda vanilla compared to the others.

But upon second viewing it I saw the complexity and tragedy of his character.

Here’s a man who tried his best to be good. Hextech, politics, becoming a counselor were all done in an effort to do good.

But he was too ignorant of the world around him. That ignorance made him too weak to create his own opinions in the face of characters like Mel and Ambessa. It made him prejudice against Zaunites and blind to the suffering of those around him. He tried to learn.

He learned from Mel and Ambessa. He learned from his mistakes regarding Viktor. And he learned from observing the suffering around him. And finally learned that the good thing to do was to free Zaun and create peace but once he did the damage had already been done.

That made him so human. And I sympathize with his character.
He truly tried to do good but his tragedy is that he learned what “good” was far too late.

For that I love his character.

Just recently saw a post in insta about jace; and truly couldn’t believe the amount of people that hate him. They were even saying nonsense s about the character lol. He may have made bad decisions here and there but still it confuses me how some give him extreme hate as if he’d affected their lives at a personal level. I mean it’s fine disliking a character but to bad mouth it is a whole new. Especially the fact that its a fictional one lol.

I know Vi, Caitlin, Jinx and Ekko are the cool badasses of the show that everyone loves but to me. Jayce Talis is the best and most interesting character on Arcane he's so complex all he wanted was to do good and help people.

Jayce is one of my favorite characters in Arcane. Nowhere is his motivation illustrated better than the scene where he's looking through his old journals and finds the drawing that he made of himself as a hammer-wielding wizard superhero as a kid. Everything he does, he does because he wants to help people, even if the desire at its core is radically naive. But then, watching him try to navigate that naive hope into reality, first with hextech, then by submitting to the corruption of Piltover's political system when he becomes a councilor and initially tries to root out that corruption, and finally when he and Vi teamup to take the fight to Silco. For a few moments, Jayce is everything he ever wanted to be: powerful, taking action, fighting the GOOD fight...

... And then he kills the kid and everything comes crashing down.

That sequence and the argument with Vi afterward just might be my favorite scene in the show. Jayce is forced to finally see just what horror he can reak with his power and knowledge whether he intends it or not, just a fraction of the horror that Heimerdinger was so terrified of, and he finds his naive ideal, that childhood drawing he made, shattering around it. If he wants to do good, it will not be as simple as he once thought it would be. It never will be.

Yet, he still doesn't stop trying to help people. Even if he doesn't believe he has any good options left, he still tries to take the one that he feels is least bad, making peace with Silco by giving Zaun independence. Not perfect as Silco is a ruthless druglord kingpin, but he recognizes Piltover's role in creating him and that nothing will change if they don't own up to that. And for a few shining moments, it seems like he's finally succeeded. The fact that he had been willing to bend his principles beforehand pays off with his bond with Mel bringing her to his side, whose own influence on the council leads to him winning the vote... just in time for Jinx's rocket to hit.

No idea where Jayce's storyline is going in Season 2, but whether he manages to rise above this tragedy to truly become a hero or falls down to horrific extremism, I can't wait to see where he goes from here!

I found Jayce to be one of the best characters in arcane, him and Viktor, it was just great.


Jayce feels like a man desperately trying to do the right thing but the world just keeps pushing him like a wild wave, going one direction to another. He’s the guy you’re hoping makes it through the other side with everything still intact, primarily his objective of doing good things. And you can see it, Jayce and Viktor made many things kept developing things but once his position changed the things he had to face started to overcome him. He’s a character you wanna see come out the same but there’s a part of me that knows that the rocket coming through that window isn’t gonna be stopped by a mysterious character there to save the day or the it’s not gonna go off. No the range, there being barely any cover, there’s no escaping that and a part of me considers that both his lover and his best friend may be doomed to die.

I LOVE how Jinx is only slightly mentioned here, just like in Jace's story he bearly knows anything about her. Hell, the only time she appears is in Vis Backflash, and even then she's more Powder, than Jinx.
He's never even seen her. He has next to no idea what she stands for or what's her goal here.
