Welcome to lecture 11 of Math 205 JW - Elements of Calculus.

In tonight's lecture, we talk a bit more about derivatives and use them to answer a word problem--a problem dealing with position, velocity and acceleration, a very typical problem type in a calculus 1 and physics 1 course. We then talk about some new derivative formulas and properties of derivatives.

We then move on to the product rule--a rule to differentiate a product of functions; and afterwards the quotient rule--a rule to differentiate the division of functions. We prove them, and give examples where we would use them, as well as examples where it would be recommended to *not* use them even when we can.

We will pick up in the next lecture with the chain rule.
