How I got here…

21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.

Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).

To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.

You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.

Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.

Never quit,

Alex

*FULL DISCLOSURE*
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

My neighbor told me something as a child that stuck with me my whole life.
He said there are two people in this world.
Gunna’s and doers
The doers just do, and they’re busy doing.
But on the other hand, there’s the gunnas, and they’re always gunna do this and gunna do that, but they’ve actually done nothing, they’re just gunna, but don’t.
He said, it’s up to you to decide which you will be and it’s an easy decision but it’s only reflected in your actions

I love how it got complicated and then ended as simple as ever

Be in the mind
Do in the action
Have in the results

You have to become the kind of person that would just do it. Most hesitate Alex. Both are right in my view. The problem is if the bar for becoming is set too high then you don’t do. Just be a doer.

When you keep doing something, it becomes part of who you are. Staying on track with the things we do and checking if we're still on the right path is key to becoming what we want and achieving what we desire.

My motto is "keep moving". ie just don't stop doing something and things will happen

It’s a good point but the whole equation is called “direction.” Without the end goal of “have, ” it’s just doing to do. And if there is no “be” of identity, you might get off track on the doing. He overthought this one. “Yes, do, that is what gives you the be and the have, so do.”

Problem with that theory is that most people don't DO, why? because they are blocked in the mind. The mindset is the 'BEING' So step one is to let go of old past self sabotaging traits and believe that you are good enough and when you BE you will take ACTION and DO. If it was as easy as just 'DOING' everyone would be wealthy! Unfortunately there is more to it!

BE Do Have, is a distinction. Can't do without Being, and Having is how we mostly live, "if I have money then I will be able to do something.

I personally dealt with this problem for a long time and I do not agree at all with the just do attitude. The problem with the just do attitude is that most of the times I can confidently say it just does not work.

Just do random things without any inner motivation, strategy, a vision or a sense of direction and without inner alignment to what you want to do, is not helpful and will not help you achieving your goals efficiently (or at all, since you will quit along the way).

You cannot constantly force your way out through discipline, without any motivation, while full of resistance etc. It means you have underlying issue that are not still solved enough for you to start doing. You will have long lasting changes when your motivation is aligned to your actions.

This is typical in cases you have unresolved familiar trauma that prevents you from feeling motivated and puts you in a state of fear, apathy, depression etc. You will start and keep doing when you feel it is aligned with you and you are ready to start.

There are cases where you are just overthinking and it‘s actually a matter of doing.

But (at least from my perspective) actually shifting my mindsets and working on your inner world with the right tools, strategies and actions is the thing that gave me the most leverage and helped and is still helping me create the best outcomes for myself while starting from an extremely disadvantageous situation of neglect, loneliness, videogames addiction, multiple divorces in my families etc.

Life must not be hard and be only about discipline and hard work. I rather prefer to live a life led from motivation, inspiration and authenticity where I can do the hard work, but the hard work is not a part of my identity, but rather a byproduct of my inner motivation.

Reading really does open doors to success. One book that made a huge difference for me is The Secret Doctrine of Wealth. It’s not just about reading—it’s about reading the right things.

Doing is important
But you have to do things in a certain way to have results
Being is becoming the person who carries out the doing in a certain way
Thus having the results in the end

Now I don’t disagree with alex
Doing something long enough will eventually help you become the person who does it in a certain way

You just do it much much faster when you become that person while just doing it if it makes any sense 😂

Exactly. It only makes sense to judge someone based on what they do and not what they have. Just like how the billionaire saudis who were looking at Elon musk with a hierarchy is just crazy. Musk worked for his while most the saudis(royal family) were born with the wealth and the land they live on happens to have all that oil.
