Don’t make this mistake when making milk kefir! 🥛 #histamineintolerance #gapsdiet #probiotics

If you’re wanting to make homemade milk kefir, you need to know what type of starter culture to use! A starter culture is something that you add to your milk to make it turn into kefir!

Powdered culture:
•Makes a consistent product
•Only a few strains of probiotics=less variety
•Weaker probiotic drink
• Doesn’t multiply so you have to continue buying the starter culture powder if you want to make more kefir. This makes it more expensive!
• In many cases you can’t use raw milk as the base. Raw milk if filled with probiotics that compete and essentially weaken the powdered starter culture.

Milk kefir grains:
•Make TRUE milk kefir
•End result is less consistent (sometimes it’s a little fizzy and other times not!)
•WAY more probiotics! 60-70 different strains
•You can use it in any animal milk including raw milk!
•The grains multiply so if you take care of them you can keep making kefir forever and give them to friends!

It’s probably obvious that I’m a big fan of the real milk kefir grains! Even if the end result turns out a little funky tasting, just use it in a smoothie and it will be delicious!

I get insane diarrhea every time I drink Raw Milk and Raw Kefir, yet after 50+ days of experimenting, I am still pushing forward. It gets very annoying and disappointing, but I am not willing to give up on it. Any suggestions or advice on how to alleviate this issue?

Use grains in any milk? I see grains targeting specific 'milks' like almond, oat, coconut. You mean any dairy milk? Then again I see best to use full fat dairy.

Hi! Do you think it's fine to use store bought milk or should it be raw milk from local farms? I'm trying to heal MCAS, histamine intolerance, etc. Thanks :)

Hello, does the nutritional content of milk change once it’s been fermented into kefir or yogurt? Does the protein, fat, and sugar content go up or down?

Can I use the store bought kefir drink as a starter culture at home? Are they the same as the sachets?

I’ve got the orange-coloured chewing-gum looking stuff from a sachet. I’m using raw milk though so wouldn’t it end up producing a rich array of flora?
I’m just doing it in a bowl at room temperature but I decided to put the hob on the lowest heat for a couple of minutes before switching it off then placing the bowl on it, covered with a tea-towel secured by pegs. That should be okay after 20 hours, right?

So I've bought the dehydrated grains from a health food store and I was trying to make it with raw goat milk that i recieve frozen. It has never "turned out". I'm not sure if it's because I'm using goat milk, or the fact it's frozen when I get it not "fresh" or that I need to try the "gummy kefir grains" instead of dehydrated. I bought some rennet for thickening tye next time I attempt to make yogurt and kefir. Any suggestions?
