I really want to be a software engineer and I’m 16 and my teachers they say that I can’t do it because it’s hard and I’m not good enough but it’s my dream and I will fight for my dream and I hope that god help me to reach my dream😊

Great to see someone like me who left electrical engineering life for front end development. I just remembered my college days. This video can be inspiring for many people.

So in love with your story/channel so far! I’m a freshman in college right now doing CS, I have zero clue what career I want from it or if I even want to continue with it at all in college because I feel so lost. It’s so helpful to hear about someone already in the industry and get insight. tysm :)

This is amazing. I also started off graduating with an Electrical Engineering degree before finding a role as a software engineer. That was a long time ago now though. You go girl. Keep sharing those tips and advice

Very encouraging! I graduated with a BS in nursing. Then figured out it wasn’t what I wanted to be. Now I’m making the change to get a CS degree.

If you’re here as someone with a Bachelor of Arts degree wishing to switch to Software Engineering, this isn’t for you.
She has a degree in Electrical Engineering which in my own experience as a Software Engineer (and also hires Software Engineers), this is one of the MOST COMMON degrees you’ll find.

If you wish to switch to IT from whatever field you’re in, here’s what you can do:

1) look for the Information Systems sectors of companies in your industry
- say if you’re in a bank, find some contact who develops those in-house apps/tool you use

2) start as a Business Analyst / QA tester
- we software engineers, love working with people who are familiar with the user perspective - you can use this as your point of entry without development knowledge right away

It’s really interesting listening someone’s story how they became software engineer/developer w/o going through cs/se or boot camp.

I know the exact numbers are under a private but what is a close estimate of a software engineer at Disney?

Thank you so much! This was amazing! I’m an electrical engineer for 7 years and I’ve fallen in love with software development. It is intimidating to change careers but front end development is becoming my passion. I’m self learning and this is very encouraging and insightful. I’m excited for what software development has for my future. Thank you for the links!

I’m always looking forward to your videos! They always keep me motivated whenever I feel like I’m slacking off on what I need to do. Plus it’s so inspiring and such a relief to hear about another person (especially another women!) who was doing CS on side because of being in a different STEM major. I’m currently an Applied Math major at Cal Poly Pomona doing the same route as you when it comes to learning all the CS and coding on the side like other full on classes lolz but anyways keep doing what you’re doing!! Your videos/experiences are so helpful and full of legit content =)

I am an Industrial Engineer, but I enjoy coding. It is my hobby and passion. Most of my free time I am coding. By coincidence I was considering your tips. I used the Cracking the Coding, I solved more than 250 problems in the hackerrank/leetcode, now i am on the competition and solving speaking loud when I am alone. I have the discipline to take 2 online courses monthly. And i have 3 apps already published in the App Store.About network I have talked to former colleagues from University. I had colleagues in CS. I also use Linkedin for that. I really hope one day to make my hobby as my full time job.
