I had a similar story only I went the computer science route initially, didn’t work out, ended up with a Psychology degree then like 15 years later came back and now I’m an Engineer! You’re absolutely right, it has to be your time!

"The loans aren't my ministry" 😂 I loved hearing your story Jovonne - thanks so much for sharing! I'm in a very similar situation to what you were in, where I was convinced in high school to do a degree other than what I originally wanted, and ended up down a career path that I find completely unfulfilling. (Even the same scenario where I have lots of great people around me, but it's just the job that isn't for me.) I am about to take that huge step of resigning from the unfulfilling job and putting myself through an online bootcamp. I'm excited but it's also very hard to work up the courage to take the leap! Your video has been just what I needed to hear at this point, and I'm so glad that you are so much happier now!

Love to see this! Thank you for sharing! I’m currently in that season of changing career and to see you make it as someone from non traditional background is so encouraging. The unknown is so scary but anything is possible! Excited to hear more of your experience GBU

You had me at wah gwan! This is good content. If you are willing to do tech all the time then you will be successful. If you keep reading, keep practicing. You will eventually get proficient at it.

I relate to your journey. Letting the voice of others deter major life choices! I was in the field of social work where everyone was overwork and underpaid. When I decided to switch to tech I told no one! 😂 I love seeing people on the other side of this journey, congratulations!!

Thank you for sharing your story, it helps to see people like me trying and succeeding! When you have a moment Please give a breakdown of what computer languages you started self teaching before boot camp.
Like you I wanted a change and went for career counseling at two community colleges in my area and they both recommended getting an associates degree in CS. There were so many classes and courses that just felt like they were “fillers” then March 2020. But two years have gone by and I want to begin anew but doing it wisely. I believe I have a plan for the length of time I need to complete the transition but am overwhelmed by where to actually begin. I was so frustrated that I bought a book on learning to code for 7-11 year olds.
Thank you in advance for the information and wishing continued success!

Hi Jovonne! Thanks for the great videos! Love your content! It really resonates with me. When the pandemic hit, my contract ended that summer and I decided it might be a good opportunity to pivot within the tech field so I also ended up joining a bootcamp, but my progress hasn't been ideal. Your videos are giving me inspiration to get it done this year, God willing!

Thanks for sharing. Currently I have a degree in business management and sociology. I was a computer science major in 1995. I had two classes Java and visual Basics. After the visual Basics class I gave up. I am kicking myself now. I've just started on this journey to teaching myself how to code. I am of a certain age. Pray for me! LOL.
