Hanlon's razor mental model tells us that "The world is not out to get you." That's why you shouldn't start by assuming the worst. The simplest way to avoid common missteps in judgment and conflict resolution is the comfort in the assumption of stupidity. This statement can offend many people as they start feeling that this mental model's philosophy assumes that everybody is stupid! But this philosophical razor suggests us to give the other person the benefit of the doubt. There is no benefit n jumping to conclusions. Mental model thinking helps us avoid that by making us aware of the flaws in our cognitive processes.
Hanlon's razor helps us to interpret situations with the "Most respectable interpretation" until we come to know about all the relevant factors.
Hanlon's razor mental model is derived from Occam's razor. A mental model which states that the simplest solution to the problem is usually right
