I don't think this is true. The algorithm is super simple and knows nothing about channels. It goes off of tiny bits of data to connect people with content that is tangentially related to their interests. I, a trans person, am constantly bombarded with transphobic content from big channels that don't usually make content about trans topics. Whereas youtube never recommends any trans positive content from creators that make exclusively trans content.
