I've had success with reuploading, my videos sometimes stuck at 50 views but when I reupload, I get 5k views on the same short, I just change the title and filter to have some change and it works most of the time 🤠🤠
I think YouTube makes mistakes sometimes by not recognising quality content !!

Shorts are great at the beginning of creating a channel. 48 days ago I started my channel from scratch and without any experience. Today I have 26, 000 subscribers, 12 million views and monetization. It took 1 day for the channel to be verified (which is strange, because I expected several weeks). I uploaded only 24 shorts, and after 48 days I see the first money in my account. So in my opinion this is the best way to start a new channel. By the way, this channel is in Polish. Thanks for all the tips, without them I wouldn't have managed. Sorry for my English. Cheers guys!

I've generally found the whole "if it gets zero views reupload it" thing to be true, there have been quite a few shorts i've done that with, a great example is I had a short getting literally 0 views on my channel when uploaded then I waited a few hours and reuploaded and it got like over 1, 000

It is crazy a short will be clipping along at a good pace and bam just stop and flat line. How shorts are shown is crazy and a mysterious dark art 😊

I went from @1k+ views on shorts to my last two having 3 and 13 respectively. I'm sure I'm partly to blame, somehow, but nothing comes to mind. Pretty drastic change though and being such a black box, ultimately, I can't be bothered putting in even more time and energy trying to figure it out. They'll be simple copy/paste from the long form videos going forward.

I had a real problem with my Shorts recently, and my first reaction was confusion. After the initial hit I took last month when I had some IRL turbulence stopping me from making content for a while, I noticed in my analytics that my largest influx of Shorts viewers had switched. Initially most of them were coming from the Shorts Feed, with Browse Features being the next largest slice of the pie (typically around 10-25% of the viewers.) Now these are switched and viewers come primarily from Browse Features and not the Shorts Feed like before.

I feel like youtube shorts are getting really popular these days because it's short and expressive, and people don't have much time for anything longer. That's why I am trying to make content for both Youtube and TikTok (as it's pretty much the same short videos), and I put my focus on expressive videos (and then I use a little bit of famester as well)

I used to get thousands of views on shorts per hour and would have shorts that just kept getting views. Now they get 1-3k views and die. This happened after the monetization. I went to the shorts discord I'm in and everyone else said their shorts all died too. So yes...the shorts algorithm actually does hate us. It likes the top channels and gives all the views to them. But they only make 6 cents per thousand views so they are pretty useless. But everyone also says shorts are drowning out long form content and I can see that happening because people just start scrolling on shorts and then hours go by. I mean shorts are fun but i don't know if this is good. It's the shorts/reels/tiktok zombie apocolypse where everyone just stares at their phones.

My recent shorts were not even getting promoted in the shorts feed at all, most of the views just comes from channel page from people watching my shorts that actually got promoted.

For some strange reason, even though I have a similar following on both TikTok and YouTube, every single one of my shorts has performed better on YouTube than it did on TikTok. Even my Tiktoks that got over 20M views, often got 50M+ views on YouTube. YouTube has been very generous with me 🥰🥰

Great ponders, as always! I've had moderate success with shorts though this week has been bleak, but just assuming I need to level up my game.

The shorts algorithm is weird but having them really helped my channel to increse. Sometimes people don't have time for a long content video so 1 minute or less won't do bad. I suggest you to keep it at about a rate of 2-3 long videos to 1 short and it'll be fine

i got thousands of views on my first 7 shorts but now my all 10 shorts are stuck at 0 to 5 views. What the hell is that

I can confirm the shorts are bugged! My best performing short got around 500 views after reuploading it again. Really cannot explain why it happens.

When a short goes and hour or two without getting on the shorts feed roller coaster, I private it, and re-upload using the same description with a few tweaks. Almost always works. Sometimes, a more favorable time slot with less upload traffic going on helps it get better views.

Literally haven’t been able to hit that initial shorts shelf boost (within the first 30 min to 2 hours) in over 7 weeks on ANY new short I post. I also looked a “competitor’s” channel with very similar subs and views and his new vids also couldn’t get that initial boost, and that happened on the same day as mine and both haven’t recovered since. Something weird has been going on with shorts since almost the beginning of March for me.

I’m genuinely convinced I can post the best short ever for my specific audience right now and it wouldn’t hit the shorts feed.

What Rob and VidIQ found matches my experience: the double push (either a few hours or the next day) as well as the reposting (after deleting) of one or two that had less than 25 views. Still can't figure out why some do better than others! Maybe just the luck of the draw??? ... and by the way, I'd be thrilled with 15, 000 views 😁

I HATE that YouTube has adopted Shorts. I get they want to be competitive and keep up with TikTok but I’m a long from content creator. I work long hours making my stuff as it is. I don’t have the time (nor the inclination) to also create shorts.
Ironically, I heard TikTok is thinking about making a subscription based format where creators can make longer videos so as to compete with YouTube.
It’s gone full circle. They’re all chasing each others tail.
