A new episode! It was about time I felt, to point out a few things that I've never pointed out before in this series, as I go to various places on the Underground to see the things that you may have missed whilst on your travels ...

Many thanks to Camera : Runderground Matt [ He has a cameo, see if you can spot him! ]

The Secrets videos on Londonist are what originally led me to Geoff's own channel, as I'm sure it did many others. So thank you Geoff, happy to see a brand new Secrets vid.

as a thank you, here's an NYC subway secret.

I am a subway conductor, and today I am assigned to the R Line. The R is 45 stops long, takes about an hour and 40 minutes one way and is completely underground... except for one short bit where the ground drops into a cutting for a freight rail line, and the trains cross a bridge under the road. This bridge has two empty, unused track beds on one side that were intended for a subway line to Staten Island.

Honestly I'd watch Geoff analysing every spec of dust in Mill Hill East station.

Was lucky enough to bump into this man a few weeks ago, honestly made my day better, super nice and supportive, one of the few honest and truly kind people on the internet.

The automatic audio announcements on the Waterloo & City line as the train arrives at Waterloo still say "change for... international destinations". That stopped back in November 2007!

Great video Geoff. What grabbed me, as an old ex-signwriter, was the baked enamel sign at Leicester Square station. As an apprentice, some
sixty odd years ago, we would silk screen some signage in screen enamel, and bake them in walk in ovens. the finished products looked good,
nice and glossy, and lasted forever. A lot of old railway signs are testament to their longevity. Maybe I should have baked myself mate!

What a delight - Punchy, excellently edited, plenty of detail, but not rushed. Soooo good.

20 Cranbourn St has more secrets. It used to be known as Transad House (for LT’s then in-house Commercial Advertising department) but was more famously where all the Underground Line Controllers were based until they were relocated from the 1960s. The last one left was the Central Line Controller who finally moved out about 40 years ago. The 1940s green Control Desk was transferred to the LT Museum. The building was then empty for 18 years until refurbished as the new Line HQ for the Northern Line which was moved from Newman St. Just up the road on Long Acre is another Underground secret but one which you might have to work out for yourself.

I want to say that The Secrets of the Underground started my obsession for everything Geoff shares regarding transport and is among my favourite of videos. While I am Canadian with an obsession for Japanese trains, my relatives are from London and I frequented there riding trains from the 1959 stock and onwards. Love these videos

Yay! I love these. Me and my dad used to go out on the tube and find all of the secrets in the old videos. Love your videos, thanks!

One of the secrets was the first video of yours when I was off work last year with depression, watched them at 3 in the morning. Love your videos

Hey Geoff, I'll just add to the Victoria Line, by saying the ECS line from Seven Sisters to the depot is the only section of the Victoria Line not under ATO; trains are manually driven at a top speed of 22mph.

Yay, ‘Secrets is back. The original series was where I first stumbled across Sir Geoffrey of Marshall. Life is cyclical.

I first noticed that "copper-tubing" tube map in the pub at Cannon Street Station a few years back ... a very nice touch indeed and I imagine that most people who see it don't realise what it represents.

Incidentally, there are no customer toilet facilities in that pub at Cannon Street and you have to use the ones on the other side of all the platforms. When the pub opened I thought that was a great idea as it meant that the station toilets would have to be free, unlike the ones at nearby Liverpool Street. Of course, a short time later all the station toilets became free, thanks to Chris Grayling who was transport secretary at the time I believe.

Love it! If you walk along Watermead way towards Tottenham Hale, you can peer over the wall and see the Vic line trains pop out of the tunnel beside the Beavertown brewery.
