Deadly Poop Water?🏊💀

One of the scariest warning signs I've ever seen warns of "non-buoyant" or aerated water that you will ALWAYS sink in. But is it actually dangerous?

Nope, those signs are the perfect amount of scary. People actually should be scared. Be very, very scared, and do not go over there

I feel like i spent my youth getting terrified about quicksand, when they probably should have used non-buoyent water instead

"You will die" signs can never be scary enough.
If I'm gonna die accidentally falling into a tank of water I'd otherwise believe I could float in should the worst happen, I want bright flashing neon signs, a loud speaker, and a clown dressed as a hooker to warn me to keep away from it.

I mean, if it's poop water, its buoyancy is irrelevant, I won't want to go anywhere near it.

Negative buoyancy is crazy and scary at the same time

We went sailing once and were given a map of dead spots where stuff just sinks because of gasses that come up from the bottom. Scary know your boat can just suddenly stop boating like that.

It's like the "Not only will this kill you, it'll hurt the whole time you're dying" warning signs.

100% correct, I worked as a sewer plant operator for 6 years. Some aeration basins have rungs on the side that go all the way down just in case someone falls in but in reality once you’re in there, you’re as good as gone.

"What if one of these facts suddenly changed" ignoring the first one was YOU CAN DRINK IT.

No, Kyle! Don't drink the poo water!!

It's not the same, but I got the opportunity to jump into a pool used for high dive practice. They aerate the water with bubbles so the diver isn't injured if they don't hit the surface perfectly. You sink so fast and it's really jarring!

Working at a wastewater plant(yes we call ourselves turd herders 😅), I am vastly more concerned about this when a plant uses fine bubble diffusers vs mechanical aeration. But then mechanical means also has its own concerns like getting pushed by the current into one and chopped up 😬. So yeah we aim to NOT ever fall in. It would be a pretty crappy day.

When water starts acting like it does in 2D platformers, I'M OUT

Actually, at one point the military was looking to develop a nuclear depth chart that would create so many bubbles and cavitation that it could sink an aircraft carrier

One lesson about poop in my agricultural training was about dangers of ignoring those danger signs. Actually some people went for a walk on a fenced-off meadow, which was in fact a lake of poop with an overgrown crust over it. For most of them it was the last walk they had in their lives.

Metal Gear Solid 2 taught me all about non-buoyant water. In the Plant Chapter, Raiden fights Vamp over a pool of aerated seawater.

The water treatment plant at the mine I used to work at had an aeration tank like this. Plenty of the same warning signs, multiple life preserver rings with ropes within easy reach, and all the railings built extra tall.

I learned about the danger of aerated water in MGS2 during the boss fight against Vamp.

The phrase “non-buoyant water” is a two-word horror story in of itself

"Scarier than they need to be" i think it's sufficiently scary. You could never be too safe.

Deadly poopy water makes something terrifying sound much less terrifying
