How does random drug testing work?

How does random drug testing work? Who is randomly drug tested? When are employees randomly drug tested?

What always makes me laugh is when a company hits employees with a random drug test and it's one of their most favorite best workers that fails the test. All because one weekend they smoked a joint.

Oh the employer gets so mad. I love it. As long as employees are not smoking marijuana before they go to work and during work, employers shouldn't be telling people what they can and can't do in their own home on their own time.

Marijuana never should have been made illegal in the first place. It was done largely for racist reasons.

A DOT random drug test for CDL drivers must be taken immediately before or after performing a safety sensitive job task ( driving). You can not be asked take a test in the middle of vacation for example.

question.I was pulled in for a random.I was off-duty 34 hour reset away from the truck at a hotel got called in for a random and blew a point .001 and I was immediately fired. Was that legal?

I was hired by a company . I started training I was on probation after 2 weeks into the job they told me on a Tuesday that I had a random the next day on Wednesday . I’ve never been called for a random nor have I ever failed a test in 34 years of commercial driving . Me not understanding how this works I thought the company was being spiteful because I couldn’t do my first run a few days before . I felt my integrity was being challenged because I just taken a pre employment drug test a week before .this company only has ten drivers . They told me are you refusing to go tomorrow . I always saw when someone went for a random you go the very same day at that moment not the next day . That’s the whole idea of a random is to catch you off guard .i told them I resign from the company . So I resigned that Tuesday the day before the random that was the next day .plus, I was out of town anyway taking care of a sick relative which they knew about . I’m concerned about this being reported to my clearinghouse and messing with my emaculate CDL record . Should I be concerned ?

I was drug tested at the start of employment and then had to come in to take another drug test 2yrs later for medical card I thought that count as my company drug test but I was wrong because a couple months later was call to take another drug test
