Denier Movements With Stephan A. Schwartz

Here he discusses the common threads that unite the social movements that are organized around the denial of factual data. These include climate change deniers, deniers of biological evolution, and deniers of data concerning psi and nonlocal consciousness. Other movements involve holocaust denial and denial relating to gun violence. One implication of all of these movements is its impact upon science funding. Schwartz maintains that public policy cannot be effective unless policy makers are willing to forthrightly face the facts.

New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is also past-president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people are encouraged to cultivate and apply their inner, intuitive abilities.

One of the most important and prescient conversations of this series and probably of our times. As for politics, certainly we should avoid the distracting shouting matches all around us, yet we cannot simply stop our ears and hope that life-threatening conflicts will go away, or stomp off in self-righteous rage when our beliefs are contradicted, or be offended by the speakers style. If we cannot have or hear these conversations then darkness will undoubtedly prevail. The final comment sums it up perfectly: "The question is: are we going to stand up and look truth in the face and respond appropriately?"

The problem with the word 'denier' is that it makes it harder to have a civil conversation with someone who disagrees with you. Neither Stephan nor Jeffrey appear willing to consider this.

The political disarray we live in now is important not only to discuss, but to unpack and deal with. As members of a society we must participate in its health - we are currently not in a healthy place. Politics is the backbone of our society and right now it is twisted and diseased and it is impeding our present and future societal health and growth. All the ideas and concepts shared on this channel minus a society able and willing to advance and better itself are useless. To avoid the discussion of politics is to avoid discussing how impulses from the brain are either reaching or not reaching the rest of the body. We must evaluate ourselves to see where the problems arise and what can be done about them. Politics are not poison, they are fundamental. Put two people in a room and there are politics at play. Fear does not enable us, we must approach what makes us uncomfortable and make decisions based on overcoming, not shrinking away. Thank you for this discussion. It is appreciated.

If "God" happens to be working her forces ALSO through scientific research, then Chinese "actions" will please her most. Climate change is already affecting all of creation and "man" theoretically has "dominion" to prepare to minimize the eventual suffering.

This man is trying to get through the worst arguments and to proper reasoning, but AGW (anthropogenic global warming) isn't something he has studied from the other side; if he had, he would find less clearly anthropogenic causes for the changes occurring, more accuracy on what changes are occurring, and outright lies from trend setter organizations in science at the top, plus less (though some) bad funding of the people making the arguments against AGW. Also, there is a fallacy in appealing merely to numbers and peer review: numbers don't necessarily mean correctness, and the peers can be mis-assigning the meaning of the research, or there can be lies they don't account for. And it's ridiculously incorrect that facts don't need context to be more than an existential fact (something specifically of a type of fact, vs just a fact existentially present).
