Great tips, thanks! A major problem for music channels that I see, especially in Brazil, is that people are not used to listening to artists that they do not recognize in the mainstream media. They subconsciously put fame and something of good quality as equals and is a very hard habit to fight because it does not leave room for unknown news in their lives, even these can be good.

I agree with all you said, but that isn't easy to do when you're just starting. When your youtube channel just started, it's too dificult to find people who are willing to colaborate with you (as many think "well he got no subscribers so I wont get anything from it") . Also having high production videos is not easy to do if you aint got a good camera and set (maybe I'm wrong). So how should starting channels deal with this situations? Should we wait to invest in a better camera and set once we get more subs? Should we wait until we have a decent fan base to aproach other musicians for collab?

I have eight songs on my channel so far, some acoustic, punk rock, etc. and they're usually about travel, relationships, and/or video games. If any small channels (I only have 21 subscribers) want to collaborate, my skill is lyric writing.

I'd really take David's advice serious if it wasn't for the fact that David's channel had 993K Subscribers in June 2014 and now has 989K... That's a growth of -4K Subscribers in 1.5 Year.... just saying xD
Don't get me wrong though I've been subscribed to this guy for years now.

I think people use "fan" to causal. "Grow your subscription base", not "fanbase".

I think finding people with similar numbers is super important... I've seen people with like 300 subs repeatedly approaching YouTubers that have several million to collab and I just want to tell them "You're trying to play in the major leagues and you're not even in the minors." The point of collaboration is that is benefits both parties. A channel with 5+ million subs really has nothing to gain from collabing with someone who has 300...
