About IDICBeer 40k - NECRONS and More

My Channel is all about Warhammer 40,000 and is mainly a Necron Channel. The content on it will include 40k Battle Reports, Army Lists, Conversions, Magnetising tutorials, Painting tutorials, 40k Tactics and lots of General Hobby Tips. I have been into the hobby since 2002 and my first and largest army is Necrons and I cover all things Necrons, including Necron tactics and Tips. I also have an Eldar army, Dark Eldar army, a Tyranid army and a Space Wolves army. I'm currently working on a new Slaanesh based Emperor's Children army, but that is on hold atm as I work on the New Necron Miniatures for 9th Edition Necrons. I upload videos every week.

If you're in Canada, local stores (Staples or Walmart) have a line of boxes called 'Bankers Box'. They come in the same sizes, with similar snapping mechanism but are almost half the cost of the Really Useful Box brand.
Pro-tip: Use the containers upside-down, so that your minis sit on the lid. This makes it so that, when you remove the cover, your minis are on a very convenient army tray.

Thanks so much for doing video reviews like this! I’ve been looking for something like this! Love your channel and will be sharing this video with my playgroup

I bought those really big backpacks with removable metal shelves from a company in Poland but for home storage I use big plastic Feldherr boxes with foam trays. No solution is ideal, magnets are a pain even more so when I became alergic to super glue (very liquid that evaporates) and had to use two part epoxy to glue the magnets to plastic.

What are you talking about? those are all colors for us Necrons! Bluecrons, Redcrons, Sandcrons, Pinkcrons, etc., no one else is invited! :P
Now seriously, those colored sheets are in fact making me reconsider storage for my Bluecrons...

Wouldn't you want a smaller diameter magnet to fit inside the 32mm bases instead of on the lip?

A great looking product. I think for cost reasons I'll stick with the a4 and round magnets in the bases as I have a number of metal models that will probably be better with those and easier to standardise.

Great video and tutorial! I was actually tossing around the idea of doing one myself (I use the same exact boxes).
For anyone in the US looking to save a little bit of extra money while doing this, you can buy craft circle punches and bulk magnetic sheet and punch the circles yourself. Instead of ferrous sheet in the boxes, I buy pre-cut galvanized steel flashing from a hardware store (usually less than a dollar per sheet) and put them in the box with double sided tape. It's a great way to save money since we pay a little more money for the RUBs across the pond.

So I have some thoughts, and I do hope you will see this, and possibly give a reply.

With the round magnetics, is there room between that and the actual base to put in some weight? Like a small. Metal washer or flat ring of some kind.
I find that having your mini's weighted gives a much better feel on the tabletop when moving them around.

Second, something I could possibly in the future try to play with. Is having my playmat/table with these bigger sheets, so the entire battlemap is magnetised, cut some sheets to fit the bottom of terrain and buildings, thereby ensuring that everything on the battlemap will not move unintentionally, which is something I am a very high fan off

I'm happy that they listened but the price jump from the A4 sheets to the box sized sheets completely rules them out for me, £17 for 10 A4 sheets that will do 4 boxes and lids easily or about 8 without lids versus £13 for one sized coloured sheet is just not worth it. If it was £25 for 10 of the coloured ones it would be a worthwhile upgrade but I'll be sticking with the A4 sheets for the time being

recently got into battletech which uses hexagon bases wondering if one these round magnet base sheets would fit in the bottoms

Very cool review and showcase Nick! Maybe sometime in the future I will magnetise my bases, I'm just old school i guess. Still using my old GW carrying case.

Nice vid Nick, sadly I ditched 40k and AoS in favour of Necromunda. Still have my armies just don't play those games right now, mainly due to GW's business practices

Would buying a smaller diameter magnetic dot, say 30mm for the 40mm base size, still work? Not obvious and doesn't raise then

Love the look of these. I have a question though: can I put the magnet bases over bases with actual magnets already stuck on, without the magnets fighting each other? What I have is ok but they slide a bit so could be better.

Very nice review Nick! It's a very convenient solution but I see a major problem in it (at least for me). The tournaments I use to go don't allow any base modification that alters any of it's dimensions, and that 1.5mm extra high it's going to be a problem for sure. Isn't it possible for Magnet shop to just make ones that fit in the gap of each base? I think that way would be the perfect storage solution!

So my friend and I played Blood Bowl and found magnets on the bases created tons of issues during the game. They kept jumping to each other.
So I'm trying magnetic sheets for the carrying case with metal tape on the bottoms.

A trick I do with my Scarabs is to apply a ferous sheet to the inside of my lid, and have my Scarabs magnetized upside down during transport. Takes a strong magnet to hold them, but it's a great way to maximize storage space.
