19 year old guy disappeared after exclaiming 'Oh, shit!' while on the phone with his parents.

19-year-old Brandon Swanson drove his car into a ditch on his way home from a party on May 14th, 2008, but was uninjured, as he'd tell his parents on the phone. Nearly 50 minutes into the call, he suddenly exclaimed "Oh, shit!" and then went silent. He has never been seen or heard from again.

The “Trace Evidence” podcast gives some more context about the call. He wasn’t just standing by his car the whole time or walking on the road. He apparently was making a b-line directly towards lights he believed to see, in 40 ºF weather (4,4 ºC). This is a questionable decision making the experts to think his decision making/reasoning was impaired for some reason. It was night time and he was legally blind in one eye, causing depth perception issues, yet despite that he left his glasses (again questionable decision making). It also stated he was waking through fields, jumping over fences, and he could hear running water. Forensic experts hypothesized he could have fall into water, when you are potentially impaired and have bad eyesight isn’t unreasonable. In according to the fact his also shouted ‘oh shit’ as his last words during the call, experts hypothesized he could have fall into water.

I wouldn’t have been on the phone with my son for 50 minutes without making it to him or having some type of law enforcement making it to him. I’d told him to stay with his car and put his flashers on.

I researched this case super deep because it’s SO WEIRD. People say he could’ve fell into water I don’t think so. You would’ve heard a splash, his phone stayed on the entire time after the Oh shit! Moment. Which doesn’t make sense how it would go to complete silence unless he fell into a HOLE, people talked about it being an old well system where the farther down it goes, the slimmer, he would’ve fell and been caught towards the middle of the pipe, suffocating him. You wouldn’t have heard anything if he fell into a hole and his phone stayed above / on land. I think he met a horrific, horrible slow death of suffocation into a hole on a farmer property.

If you look into the case you will see that the farmers in the area, some of them refused to let the cops search their land for traces of him. So yes, he could easily have fallen ( more than likely ) into an old well or pipe system no longer in use and that’s also why he hasn’t been found. Very sad

One time I was stranded by the road side in the middle of nowhere and I was intoxicated .The last thing I did was to follow the woods but it was tempting because I could see distant lights .My instinct just told me to follow the road .Instead of climbing I decided to ascend down and luckily I was given a lift by the police to the hotel .The next day while travelling back home on a bus I passed that route and my good, they were literally cliffs with dense forests .If I went that route might have fallen off the cliff and I doubt anyone would have known what happened

This one stays with me. Everyone that is saying he fell into water or off a cliff. Would he have time to even say "oh shit?" It just feels more to me that he saw something. Maybe a person or an animal and something tragic happened. Very fast his phone was either knocked down or he dropped it but he had the time to say that so he saw the danger coming. My heart aches for his parents.

People doesn't just disappear, he is somewhere. Call the guys that look for these kind of people cases. They dive wherever to look for missing people.

Teach your kids what to do in emergency situations. Remain in the car unless it’s in direct danger. (On a highway with no hazards, car is on fire etc)

If no one can find you or help:

Call 911 or 411 and ask for an emergency tow or ambulance ride.
Or even just assistance from an officer.

Minute men on the highway will tow your car out of danger for free.

Call insurance if they have tow or rental services. Tow will take you home with your car.

This case gives me chills everytime I hear it. I always get freaked out if I park alone on a back road thinking that someone could be in the dark waiting to get me, and this case just heightened that fear

So he didn’t call 911 but spoke with his parents for 50mins …? I would’ve spoke to my parents for 5mins then call the cops then call my parents again until the cops got there.

This in my family, my uncle disappeared for 30 years. Last week he came back... All fine, with family and very rich, he said he just didnt like family negativity towards him.

I was literally just thinking about this case the other day. Somebody knows what happened to this young man. I think he got hit by a car and somebody hid his body. People don’t just disappear.

Depends on where he ended up. Could be black bears, wolves, coyotes. It could’ve been a wild animal attack or a human attack. No trace of him was ever found. It’s happened before with wild animals. They drag the body to a secluded area or cave and occasionally clothing or bone are stumbled upon later; sometimes not.

It's sad to me that farmers refused to allow their land to be searched. Like what could they have on their property that's worth preventing a person potentially being found?!
