A state funeral has been held in Japan for the country’s former prime minister Shinzo Abe – who was assassinated in July.

The killing of the 67-year-old shocked a country unused to gun crimes or political violence.

The state funeral drew thousands of guests - including local and global leaders, notably from Japan's closest allies.

But it also faced a backlash as protesters marched against the decision to hold the funeral.

It was a beautiful and solemn funeral that lasted for 5 hours, Abe-san's widow must have bowed over a thousand times today alone in acknowledgement of the respect paid to her and her husband. Nobody deserves the loss of a loved one.
I respected Abe and truthfully he was probably more respected overseas than he was for the people he fought for.

There is no doubt that the death of Shinzo Abe is a big loss for Japan. Throughout his political career, he was always passionate about working for Japanese citizens. Thank you, Abe San, for everything. I will never forget about you. Rest in peace 😢

It's still incredibly shocking that this happened to someone who served his country with dignity. Anyone being murdered is a major tragedy for everyone who knew the victim, and more so for the family. But in the case of someone who dedicated their life to serving their country (regardless of how successful they were; as long as they did it with all good intentions they must be respected), it's a far more wide-ranging tragedy.

For the Japanese people who are still bereaved, I send my deepest condolences. To his family and friends, I send them every sympathy for their terrible loss.

That what a free society should be, both side of voices could be heard, unlike certain big country, where the opposition are snuff out.
