Teaching English grammar can be one of the hardest and most stressful parts of the lesson for English teachers. Many teachers are so afraid of teaching grammar that they ignore it completely. In reality, teaching grammar is not only easy to do, but also a lot of fun. You just need the right technique.
This video is all about the grammar presentation. Specifically, what you do for the 10 minutes when you're up in front of your ESL students teaching your language point.

My favorite resource for teachers!
I get asked this all of the time and my go-to resource for teachers is Fluentize for all your lesson plan needs. This site has hundreds of tailor-made lesson plans, ready to go, with accompanying videos. Perfect for individual or small group lessons.

Use my code CHRIS20 to get 20% off the entire site! Trust me, get a year membership for full access to their entire catalog. It will save you hundreds of hours of planning + the lessons are fantastic.

In the video, we cover all of the steps and stages of the grammar presentation, along with a lot of useful tips and techniques to get it right. To teach grammar effectively, you want to throw away all of your extra language and really focus on eliciting and CCQing (Concept Check Questions) to move the entire presentation.

To teach grammar well, here are the best practices. It all starts with some solid examples of your grammar point. From there...
1. Get the terminology
2. Elicit the function
3. Move onto the structure
4. Elicit more examples, including negative and question forms
5. CCQ everything!

NOTES
2nd conditional sentence was written incorrectly. It should read 'If I had... "

Wow, I am a native English speaker, 78 years old, and I do not know all of the parts of sentence. I remember when I was in grade school how I had trouble with past participles and past this and that. I wish this were something that I could use to teach conversational English to some girls in Panama. however, if it’s difficult for me, it’ll be impossible for them. I’m sure you know what you’re talking about, but it’s above me.

Thank you very much!
I was recently hired by MSF (Doctors Without Borders) as Training Officer and to teach the staff entry level English. Mind you, teaching is not an issue, but the methodology approach is different for adults. Your videos are super helpful!
