Trying to keep your left arm straight? Is your thumb or wrist bothering you? As people learn to properly release the club one of the things that I've seen people do is try to keep the left arm rigid. Here are my thoughts on what could be happening.

Signed up for the Malaska App recently and it’s helping me improve in leaps and bounds. I’ve only been playing for about a year, but the technique changes I’ve made to my grip alone has already added 13 yards to my 7 iron.

Another good Mike. I also love it when you pay respect in some of your videos to the greatest player in history, Jack Nicklaus. How so called better methods are just different names for things Jack did 40 years ago. One example is the reverse "C" finish, pushing off your left side. Now they call it using ground forces. As you say why isn't what the master did good now.

Have a question for mike. I'm a member on the site and I'm trying to solve for this left arm rotating. I've been rotating it with my arm relaxed and sort of my front deltoid letting it rotate but could I possibly get more power if I was rotating my elbow underneath instead?

Can you make a video about this more in depth? There is a lot of instruction advocating for a jordan Spieth like release where the left arm stays straighter longer and doesn’t rotate. And how does the left arm rotate and fold if the right arm doesn’t rotate through impact so you can have consistent accuracy?

That’s a issue in my swing I’m always wondering about. Believe me! I’m not able to fold my left arm up when releasing the club. Both hands stay totally straight and rotate around my body. Any clue?!?

Hey Mike I remember you from back when you were at lake San Marcos!

After being accused of swinging my extended arms directly down the target line one day in frustration I allowed my lead elbow to feel as if it was moving rearward past my left hip half way into my downswing. I soon discovered this movement caused my lead shoulder to also move rearward and upward, as it should. This move is difficult to articulate, as it is a feel for me.

That was a good tip. I know my left wrist is often to stiff as my whole wrist can hurt.

That folding seems to be facilitated when the lead hip clears. If the hip blocks, the rotation and folding of that lead arm is impaired....IMO. Right?

I found out if I hold it off I get a slice if I rotate the arms I tend to get the right over left and snap hook the ball. Do I want to keep my trail forearm under my lead forearm?

you suggest bowing the left wrist as a way to get the left arm to rotate more easily? (right handed)

This has been an issue for me for a few months on a few shots. Hopefully this will help, thank you!
