I love that Bayle's arena looks like a primitive mockery of Placidusax's area and also feels like a colosseum in contrast to the "place of worship" feel of Placi's.

The further up that mountain I climbed, the more I felt like I was trespassing somewhere forbidden. That was a hell of a build-up to a dragon boss.

From above, Bayle's arena reminds me of Placidusax's arena with all of the entombed Beastmen as his guardians — except that with Bayle all of those are empty. Really surprised that the arena changes in Phase 2, and reminds me of how the Scadutree Avatar's arena has all the shining golden amber fade to shadow after it's defeated. That might be interesting to explore in a before/after, especially since you can only explore a bit of the golden arena before the boss fight first activates.

This location has become one of my favorite fromsoftware mountains my only issue with it is is how little there is to do on it, If it was a massive legacy dungeon it would've been amazing.

It’s most likely a very dormant volcano. This is mainly due to the whole Flame Lightning aesthetic and the magma produced by Bayle’s Tyranny.

I mean, Volcanic Smoke from eruptions or even dormant volcanoes often produce thunderstorms, so it tracks.

I actually thought it was a big volcano the first time i got there, but i guess Miyazaki said one volcano mountain is enough for one game

I like the theory put forward that Bayle's arena used to be the foundation on which Farum Azula once rested before it took off to become a floating city outside of time.

I believed it was a vitrified impact site. During Placidusax and Bayle's battle, the place was shattered, and Bayle crashed down with a piece of Farum Azula which is now fossilized due to vitrification (which is why the arena appears to have once looked like a structure similar to Farum A.)

The crystal peaks theme song while exploring the jagged peaks is very clever lol

Your videos really scratches that itch of wanting to know more when you look at a game's scenery, thank you.

4:18 its interesting that from above you can see that this structure is clearly broken into pieces. Suggesting that it fell from the sky, likely from Farum Azula. Or could’ve been made by bayle in an attempt to create his own Farum Azula.

Heck yeah, been waiting for this! Seeing it from above, I can see why some said it looks like the Pacidusax arena. It looks like it was crafted, ans I never noticed those pillars all over that part of the map! This is exactly what I wanted to see. Thank you Kami! Can't wait to see where you explore next

Bayle's arena seems to be both a volcanic crater, as indicated by the second-phase fires, and an attempt to emulate Placidusax's arena at Farum Azula. Even the pillars with the indentations could be crude attempts to mimic the FA pillars. However, this poses curious things for the timeline, since IIRC, that area was meant to be Placidusax's mausoleum. Was Placidusax already considered to be dying before Bayle's uprising?

Also, regarding the Jagged Peak, is it the tallest place in the DLC? What are the elevations of Bayle's arena and the highest point on the mountain? I'm curious if the Jagged Peak, Shadow Keep, or Enir-Ilim is the tallest area. It'd also be neat to compare the highest elevation of the monolith in front of the Scadutree Chalice, though said monolith can't be entered (tunnel aside) or climbed at all.

Thanks for another interesting video!

Nice to be able to have a look around the place! I was too busy screaming and running around like a chicken with my head cut off while my co-op summons killed him lmao

From a top-sideways perspective, it looks like a GIANT tree stump, double the size of the Scadu/Erdtree!

2:18 These random bits of terrain, same as random underground cubes, are generally used as visual pivot points, or anchor points from which engine artists can manipulate an object or a collection of several objects.

I never realized how much this particular Hollow Knight track sounds like an orchestral rendition of "Chocolate Rain"
