From Log to Natural Edge Bowl

Here I show the process of how a Natural Edge Bowl is made, starting straight from a log. This is my first time editing a video and it was done on my iPhone, so please excuse any audio issues during high speed play. I don't know why it did that!

You said this wasn't an instructional video. I disagree. I've watched a few of these live edge vids and I learned more from you than the rest combined. Clear explanations even down to rpm's and why. I turned my first live edge last week from Manitoba maple and though happy with it as a first try, I wish I had seen your vid first. Cheers from next door in Saskatchewan and you've got a new subscriber 👍

From one 🇨🇦 to another I am so proud that a young man is interested in this old trade of turning. Your fine scraping passes must sure same time sanding. Excellent work as always

Just stumbled across this video. Excellent job and very informative. You deserve way more subscribers. It’s great to see a young person into turning. Keep up the great work for all of us out here. BTW. Nice lathe !

Once again great job! I would be interested in knowing what the grind is on the gouge you use to rough out the initial shape?

Another very nice job. Your turnings inspire me to branch out from segmented work. But not too far I love segments.
Is it better to turn green wood to help keep the bark on or is all about the bark?

I get a bounce with my gouge when trying to round the bowl. I think I am rubbing the bevel. After seeing the shavings coming off your gouge, I guess I am not. Any suggestions, besides more practice. TIA.

why not put the end of the rest into the bowl to shorten the overhang?
