Solution, Lower the Bass of the Amp or lower the bass side of the pickup --- No Need to buy new pickups

Let’s ignore the placement is completely different between the two guitars, it’s almost a middle pickup on the green one. Makes a solid difference

I liked the stock Epiphone pickups more 😂

I like the Epi pickups way more. The Bare Knuckles don't even sound like P90s to me.

*Completely ignores the fact that the neck pickups are placed in different spots*

While good pickups will be clearer, and much brighter, as anyone who owns both 22 and 24 fret guitars can attest... pickup placement matters even more than what pickups you have.

I prefer the butteriness of the Epiphone

IMHO _both_ sound great, the cheaper ones sound thicker and fuller, the more expensive ones have a bit more top-end and clarity, so it depends what you're looking for as both sets are more than acceptable.

The difference is in the output of the pickups.
Translation: The stock pickup has more wire = hotter and less treble.
A lot of people prefer that.

Oh my god just adjust the damned EQ on the amp, that’s why those knobs are there in the first place. You realize that pickups have about $2.25 cents worth of raw materials in them right? You can even rewind the Epiphone pickups yourself, or change out the magnets & the pole pieces too, if you wanted to. Stop giving companies hundreds of dollars for products that use 1950s technology and cost virtually nothing to manufacture!

I know someone who just unwound wire from his P90s until he was (eventually) happy with them. A good lesson. There is nothing magical about products where the majority of budget is spent on marketing not manufacture.

When I look at you and nod….you nod back and then we’ll get our 5% commission on the ones we’re pushing 🤣

Knock the Epiphone if you like, but even a fool can tell that the tone from that guitar is iconic. Probably every amazing grunge hit from the late 80’s and early 90’s was written, recorded, and performed on a cheap P90 pawn shop guitar 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have $30 eBay Alnico 2 P90s in my Les Paul and they sound bloody amazing.

Idk, sounds like apples and oranges to me. The green guitar is crystal clear but the Epi is nice and warm. I guess by "boomy" he means it hits edge-of- breakup at lower amp settings. Not neccessarily a bad thing. Personally I'd use both of these tones.

They’re completely different guitars tho. Not even an accurate comparison. And then pickup on the green guitar has been scooted back closer to the middle which is gonna give it more of a jangly middle pickup type of sound.

Not necessarily price but output: low (BK Old Guard) vs moderate/ high output (Epiphone).

With the expensive pickups the high notes stick out a lot and overshadow the rest of the chord, the epiphone actually sounds more balanced to me.

I remember a woman playing guitar in a band saying she wants a pickup recommendation, saying her current pickups cant be heard in the mix of a her band, I suggest changing the pickup heights, pole pieces height and settings of the amp and choosing the right notes to play. She defensively said my suggestion is wrong. LOL The Amp setting changes the tone and feel of the sound more than any pickup change.

P90 is such a simple design, about the only difference commonly seen between any two is directly related to the number of turns/DCR. If you want sparkle get closer to 7k. If you want girth go 8k.
