Are these the best P90 pickups?

Are these the best P90 pickups? This is the Tonerider Vintage P90 neck pickup and the Tonerider Hot P90 bridge pickup. These are about £40 each or £80 for the set which is under half the price of a similar spec Seymour Duncan.

What we've noticed with onerider pickups is that they are properly made, using nickel components and they don't skimp on the copper so you get a great sounding set of pickups for a great price

Bought my first set of toneriders for a 3 pick up epiphone SG custom I rebuilt recently. I used the Birmingham Alnico 5 set for bridge and middle and a Vintage Alnico 2 one for the neck. The guitar is now a salivating wild beast!!!! I'll consider a set of P90's for my Noventa Stratocaster after my experience and this video 👍👍

The neck Tonerider sounds like a good upgrade, the bridge sounds similar to the original Epiphone, so not worth swapping out in my view. Good video! Tonerider/Epiphone v Seymour Duncan comparison would be interesting to see if its worth going the whole hog!

I absolutely love Tonerider pickups & think they’re best of the budget brands. I put some of the p90s in a Chinese Tokai I bought & was disappointed with.
Made a massive improvement.

Stock pups sounds OK. Just a differnce in tonality. Use the tone control.

Thanks for your review. I have Tonerider Alnico 2 Classics in a Samick Les Paul and a Rebel 90 in an Epi Junior. The Rebel is a P90 in a humbuckers format. I think the Toneriders sound great!!

There’s so much reverb saturation it’s hard to tell. Try playing the demo clean so we can hear the differences before you layer in all the effects.

I have tonerider generator set (alnico 5) in a Harley benton sc custom

and their rocksong set (overwound alnico 2) in a 'flipped' custom randy Rhodes flying v guitar (long part of the V has 4 pots and 3way switch in a line as I wanted les paul style control and push pull pots lol)

I made out of a 200year old antique walnut dresser that I got in an auction lol

Both sets are amazing pickups and worth checking out of you plan any upgrades in the near future.

Had them for 2 years and they consistently sit around the top of the best sounding guitars I own even though the collection is getting out of hand.

In minute 4:02 interesting to hear that, so bright overdrive and remind me to RATM

What did you do with the guitar? It looks awesome! Did you strip the poly and repaint it or just sanded it? I have the same model and I've been thinking about sanding it a little to show the grain cause paint seems very thick. I'd love to see how to do this and not mess it up ☺️

I believe they are made in the far east but source their materials from Japan and they are scatter wound which I believe is quite a rarity for budget pickups. Personally, I play an Epiphone Wilshire and I have noticed Ephiphones typically mount their bridge pickups quite a far distance from the bridge causing not as much treble, top end and so personally I would invest in the vintage P90s for more top end on the bridge pickup. Many thanks for the enlightenment and demo. Cheers.

Those p90s sound great. Do the Vintage neck and Hot bridge still work with RWRP in the middle position? thx

Beautiful clean tone. Is it Stacked (double coil) inside ? ANy noise ?

The tone rider in the neck is clearer than the Epiphone but the bridge sounds 99% like the Epiphone.

I use Tonerider, mostly A4 PAF's for years. Honestly, I can not find big name pickups (Dimarzio, SD, Gibson) which sound better. They are clean winners.

the neck is really nice; the bridge is a bit strident for my liking. guess that could be overcome by switching the magnets to A2, maybe?

I have humbucker size Tonerider Rebel 90's in my SG. Great for early Iommi style sounds.

Can I ask what upgraded wraparound tailpiece is in the Epiphone special?
