Over 2 billion cups of coffee are consumed every day, there is no denying that coffee is a deeply embedded habit in our global culture. Although what you may not already know, is according to scientific research having coffee first thing in the morning is one of the worst times of day to consume caffeine. I will explain the reasons behind these studies.

In Ethiopia, the origin of Coffee, the first introduction of coffee to the body in any given day is almost always after an early lunch, around 11-12. Seconds are around 4-5pm as well. Almost never in the morning! And it’s never in the form of the cheap gas station-like drip coffee; it’s a high quality, roasted on the spot, espresso-like delicacy.

As far as I know my cortisol levels have been messed up since childhood from living in a chronic abusive environment and then continued into my adult life because of the ingrained training of codependency. It has been a long time coming, 58 years, but I am at the awareness and recovery portion of life with trauma bonding. But we don't know what we don't know and only the quest for truth will eventually reveal the truth.

I’m glad you mention to use a quality coffee bean. There’s so many low quality coffee bean out there. Starbucks being the number one worse. They have millions of people fooled everyday. Thanks doc.

I have always had my only mug of Coffee around 10.30 - 11 AM - WITH a good Oatmeal/Fruit Muffin or Croissant. That's enough. Has to be really GOOD Coffee! I drink Water when I wake up, and don't want Food (or Coffee) for several hours. In the afternoon I have some Tea. Very occasionally I have a Cappuccino instead of the Tea.
Never had any digestive or sleep issues.

Thank you. This is very helpful. It confirms my theory that it's best to wake up, have some hydrating fruit, work out, then drink coffee after my morning workout.

Thanks doc! This video goes hand in hand with my anxiety attacks. I've adjusted the time I drink my coffee (black) by about 2 hours, and it has made a world of difference. My anxiety levels have decreased by about 50%.

Months ago, I quit drinking coffe ☕️ I have more energy and stamina!

I drink only tea, Green for antioxidants and black tea for Energy.

Best time to drink coffe... 9:30am to 11:30 am = 2 hours. And 1:30pm to 5pm = 3.5 hours. I think it's also for drinks with caffeine.

I make a freshly ground 1/2 caffeinated 1/2 decaffeinated brew using Pure Roast coffee thats 7x higher in antioxidants then green tea. It's already low-acid, but I cold brew it to make it virtually acid free. I add a pinch of cinnamon and turmeric and it's amazing! On top of this, I always make sure to drink plenty of water afterwards. Not all coffee is created equal, you can enjoy your coffee anytime of the day if you do it right :) Always be sure to drink water after your coffee though.

Cold brew coffee has much less of the acids that cause inflammation and cause staining on teeth because it's slow-brewed instead of relying on heat, for those concerned with such things

Drink organic coffee! Limit the amount and drink at the right time. Also start your day with a big glass of organic lemon water with grated lemon zest and organic grated ginger with organic raw honey! Rocks - so good and heals the body.
