Unfortunately those Tekton split beam wrenches have had extremely bad QC. Make sure you double check those against something else, because there's been units that are 25% off out of the box.

@FritzRamos I really appreciated you saying that if you’re going to work like a professional, you should be compensated like a professional! California may be a little better at paying Auto Technicians overall because of the labor laws in place. However, Being an Auto Technician does not pay fairly anymore. From service writer politics to inaccurate warranty pay times and all other things in between there are too many factors that affect your paycheck. However I must say you make me want to be an auto tech again. You make amazing videos! So cool looking and you make jobs look super easy!! Nice work!!

Remember to double check wheel bolts after 50 miles or go a bit over spec.

folks that don't use a torque wrench will torque your wheels to 200 ft lb at a dealership and call it normal when your wheels only need 88 ft lb..ask me how I know? I test after every visit to ensure that I can put a spare on when I get a flat and had to use the big impact to get the wheels off

You'll absolutely need one for certain things

They should integrate the torque wrench into the impact wrenches.

Like a digital meter that tells you the torque ammount?

Sometimes you need sometimes you don’t if it’s not a major component there’s no reason to torque it to spec. Knowing when to use it when not to etc

But where do we find all the torque values for our car

Do you need a torque wrench? Absolutely not. But I would Absolutely recommend one.

You probably do a better job than most of the “professional” YouTube mechanics that don’t torque hardly anything

If I do anything in the engine especially rotating assembly torque wrench and angle measurement is a must. Other than that suspension and tyres i try to find the specs and torque those also. However for battery terminals for example I just tighten them by feel. Reason being usually for non critical parts finding specs is pretty hard and IMO it is just waste of time to torque bumper bolts for example. Torque values are most critical in TTY bolts anyway

It's a bit of a spectrum, like from head gaskets to bleed nipples, everyone falls inbetween. Torquing bleed nipple would be a weird move tho.

For me, gaskets get the torque wrench if i can fit it in, everything else is ehhhh

Extensions minimize torque and tekton aren’t exactly accurate. Also have worked in a handful of shops never seen anything come back for being loose.

Most things dont have to b torqued. But there is however cirtical parts that for sure needs to b within spec an checked twice
