As an American who has seen a lot of movies over the years, I have never been to one that has paused for a bathroom/refreshment break. We do just have to hold our bladders! 😬

Almost forgot...👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Long movies would have intermissions because they were 3 or more hours long and it would increase the sales at the candy counter. Movies like Camelot, Ben Hur and other major movies of the fifties and sixties would have intermissions.

I think Jurasaic Park was the largest clap I heard at the end of a movie. It was so ahead of anything in the theaters at the time.

Just laughed at myself when I realized I always watch Lawrence's videos twice. First on his channel and then a second time with you guys when you make a reaction video.

"Don't Tell Me That You Actually Clap For A Movie"

That actually depends on the movie, TBH

Intermissions at a movie were more common maybe 50+ years ago. The only one I ever experienced was in the 60’s watching Gone with the Wind which was like 5 hours long.

I'm old enough to have gone to the first "Star Wars" movie in 1977 in the theater. That was the first time I remember the audience clapping in a movie, and they've been doing it ever since, mostly at the big blockbusters. Sometimes it's a little strange, but often it's a way for the audience to bond in their appreciation of the enjoyable experience they just shared. And yes, from now on, at the end of your videos, I will be standing and applauding, even if it scares my dog.

The one thing I like to do is sit until the very end and watch the credits. I like to hear the music over the credits and to read the names of the people who made the movie, see where the locations were, and so on. I'm in suburban New Jersey and when I go movies here, most people (not all) get up and leave before the credits end. But when I have gone to a movie in New York City (Manhattan), most people would sit in their seats and watch until the end of the credits.

I'm bedridden at the moment but if I could I would stand up and clap for you guys! Older, longer movies often had a break. Movies that I remember intermissions: The Sound of Music and Gone with the W.ind. Nowadays movies are much shorter.

I’m surprised he didn’t mention the movie theater we have in the US that have reclining oversized seats or the theaters that have tables and full menus and bar options and waitresses. That seems to be an American thing in my opinion.

The "Philosopher's Stone" vs "Sorcerer's Stone" change in the Harry Potter movie title was also done in the books. There were lots of small changes between the US and UK editions of the books, including spelling (color vs colour), and terminology (lift vs elevator).

I’m American and I don’t clap at the end of YouTube videos, but that was a funny comment 🤣🤣

Movies have an intermission some times, if it's a long movie they will so people can get up stretch their legs, go to the bathroom and get more food without missing the movie.

The theater/cinema in my town was attached to a bowling alley/arcade. Was super fun as a young person to spend a Saturday afternoon bowling and playing shoot em/racing games plus air hockey and then watch a movie. Movies are cheaper during the day and less crowded. The bowling alley did actual food and we found a way to smuggle entire pizzas inside the cinema/theater. Snacks and drinks are wicked expensive at the theater, it's their revenue source though. Midnight showings on Thursday nights are wicked too, makes for a rough day at school Friday. Cosmic bowling past midnight on weekends are great with music and neon lights.

We have tons of movie theaters over here that have recliners for seats. Some of them even have waiters / waitresses that will come and take your food and drink order.

Yes we do have intermissions if the movie is too long. Or in drive in movies normally run 2 movies with an intermission in between. Love my drive in movies.

It has to be a special kind of film to get applause.
There are certain films that get other types of reactions like boos, jeers, and laughs from theater audiences .Especially if the film is pretty bad

The seats at our Regal are SO beyond comfortable. Better then any seats I could ever afford for my home. THey are big thick, essentially couch like, single seats that you can press a button so they extend out so you are somewhat laying down and watching the movie. And they always clean them (usually) so you never have to worry about greasy hair from someone else or anything like that.

There are a few theaters where you can order restaureunt food and have it brought to your seat that has a table tray. There is another theater that has beds instead of seats. Yes, actual beds. So it's like your watching a movie in bed (made for two). Obviously some uh... "things" are not allowed in the bed lol.

Movies nowadays don’t have an intermission, but older epics (Gone With the Wind for example) that were 3-4 hours had them.

👏The intermission is when you have a double (or triple) header. 2 or 3 movies in a single sitting. Like when they play all Star Wars movies in chronological order at one sitting. We don't stop a movie in the middle for a brake.
