The Script Of This Video uses information from The World Of Ice & Fire (2014), Fire & Blood (2018) and The A Song Of Ice And Fire Main Series. The ASOIAF Wiki has been used to confirm order of events and clarify discrepancies between sources. George R.R. Martin's blog posts have also been used as a source and like the wiki i to do consider this information canon. Any similarity of this video to the structure of these sources is a consequence of the subject matter of the video and limited sources dictating the way in which events played out with no room for interpretation. In some areas it can be very difficult to make the script 100% different as stated in the sources without just making it up which isn't the point of these videos. There are places it's more similar to the sources than i like but with no way to really spin it a different way, given in many case, it's physically the only way to approach the subject. Information strictly from the TV show has not been used in these video unless stated otherwise.

The Dance Of The Dragons will be the focus of the plot of the new HBO spin-off House Of The Dragon coming in 2022. So if you want to learn the story before we see HBO's take on it then this will be a very long-running series. Game Of Thrones / House of the dragon are HBO shows based on George R R Martin's A Song Of Ice And Fire series. The information in this video comes from the books a world of ice and fire as well as fire and blood.

Unfortunately mistakes do happen as work gets reposted without credit all the time making narrowing down the original source a challenge.

Sir Otto and Prince Daemon were designed to be enemies. Otto is a Lord who's aptitude in politics and lawful order clashes with Daemon's attitude in being a royal wildcard, one who's brother is a King that lets him do almost whatever he wants

Fire and Blood is incredible in its detail about how deeply rooted the Dance of the Dragons was. And like most great conflicts, the seeds of it were planted during a time of Peace and Prosperity during the reign of Jaehaerys I with the deaths of Aemon and Baelon.

Otto, smart man, terrible at choosing allies and enemies. The one mistake the Kings Hand can't make.

What we must remember is that House Hightower was an ancient and powerful even before the conquest and the greatest challenges House Targaryen faced in its early years centered around major events involving key institutions within the Hightowers sphere of influence
During the later years of the reign of Jaeherys Otto had occupied a position of great power and likely had allies at court that could shape the reign of Viserys I so it is likely that Daemon saw him a grasping manipulator a perception that is solidified with the marriage of Viserys to Alicent
It cannot be overstated the importance of the position of Hand of the King and Otto had leveraged that position into even greater gains so it can be said that Otto's ascent has placed him in direct conflict with Daemon

I volunteer to write closed captions, for free, to all GOT youtubers. Seriously. Your subtitles (and many others) make me want to cry. As someone with a sensory processing disorder, I need em to understand a lot of the time, so when they're iinaccurate it drives me nuts.

As for the Daemon and Alicent rumor, perhaps it was changed because Fire and Blood is a history book. The maesters perhaps didn't want to discredit the Hightowers.

"No matter how fat the leech grows, it always wants for another meal." - Daemon Targaryen.

As much as I dislike Daemon, he really hit the nail on the head regarding Otto and Viserys really should have listened to him. Otto might well have genuinely believed that his actions were for the good of the realm, but the fact that he championed his grandson's claim despite Aegon being utterly unfit to rule shows that his ambitions meant more. I lay the blame for the Dance firmly at Otto's feet where it belongs.

Let me put a controversial theory forward, which might be mentioned in the next season of HofD. Ser Otto replaced Viserys and Daemon's father, Prince Baelon as hand of the king when he died after a short and mysterious illness (from the description it was appendicitis), could this have fuelled Daemon's suspicion of Otto, who was only a young man who was elevated quickly? Something to consider

Ever wonder if Otto (behind the scenes via straw men) advocated for Daemon to serve as Master of Coin then Laws to set Daemon up to fail? I do.

2:53 it’s really not though lol. That’s Show Only Jon’s Parentage is still disputed when it comes to the Books and quite frankly basically all of the evidence points to Jon’s Parents being Ned Stark and Ashara Dayne the most damning piece of evidence that in the Annotated iBook Versions of the Novels, which contain Annotations written by Martin himself which really can’t be disputed, that Jon was born “During or slightly after the Sack of King’s Landing” with Dany being “9 Months later”. Knowing everything Ned had to do post-Sack this effectively Mathematically Eliminates Jon from contention of being Rhaegar and Lyanna’s Son. Rhaegar and Lyanna’s kid has a much higher chance of being the bot we are introduced to as “Aegon” or as some people call him fAegon or Aegon Blackfyre.

I don't think there was much to their hatred other than they personally were polar opposites and Otto was jealous that Viserys always loved Daemon more than him, even though he kept messing up. Otto was ultimately jealous/scared of that relationship that Daemon and Viserys had.

Question. Should rhaenys and corlys have sided with the greens or just be neutral?

I completely agree that they both got what they wanted since both of their blood ended up on the throne
