What if Rome Never Conquered Britain? | Alternate History

preview_player
Показать описание
What if Julius Caesar and the Roman Empire never invaded the island of Britain, setting in motion the later conquest of the island and the Celtic Briton tribes by Emperor Claudius, thus allowing the British Catuvellauni to unify the South of the Britannia or what we would know today as England? How does this change British history? That is the subject of this alternate history scenario.

Fun fact: modern construction in England and Wales (Not Scotland because the Romans didn't conquer them hence hadrians wall) often uncovers roman structures and burial grounds. In London a few years back they were digging the foundations of a new building and they found a colosseum!

Can you do a "What if the Indus Valley civilization never collapsed" or more specifically "What if the Sarawasti river never dried up (Collapsing the Indus Valley civilization)?" scenario? They're my favorite ancient civilization with seemingly secular, egalitarian values so different than their contemporaries, and I'd love to see how their continued existence would have influenced the world.

In my humble opinion, there are three technologies that Rome easily could have invented that would drastically changed the course of human history. Those three are gunpowder, the heavy plow, and the printing press.
Gunpowder was invented in China on accident and completely changed the face of warfare.
The heavy plow was invented in the middle ages and completely changed the availability of food and what land was valuable for food production.
The printing press drastically changed the preservation and distribution of information.

Rome had all the necessary tools to invent all three of them but simply didn't. I've often thought about how the world would be radically different if Rome had invented one or more of them.
