I start off thinking "Britain's history would be pretty similar to Ireland's", but then Ireland's history is defined by its relationship with Britain.

Actually Ceasar had failed to successfully invade Britian before. This was part of the political reasoning of Claudius, not only was conquest a way to gain prestige but he would succeed where the mighty Ceassar had failed.

I remember seeing somewhere that the rise of the legend of King Arthur began as a response to the Roman abandonment of their English holdings. Arthur may have been educated, trained or at least strongly influenced by Roman culture. So then, no Romans would mean no King Arthur.

What if. What if. What if.
Well, if the Irish had not invented whiskey, we would all be living in the outer reaches of the Great Irish World Empire.
Sad :(

It would be interesting to see English as a predominantly celtic language with some german influence as opposed to the german-french-latin mess that it is today.

The Belgae did not cover the entire south east of England. They only occupied the central south between the Durotriges and Regnenses with the Atrebates to the north.

The use of the CK2loading screen pic.

Reminds me I have been putting off my own Celtic Britain campaign for some time.

English and Celtic don't really go in the same sentence. The English didn't exist

I always thought that it was a mistake to invade Britannia, they should have used the resources to bolster the stability in mainland europe instead.

In fairness, the idea that Roman-style culture was confined to urban centres remains a pretty hotly-debated one.

Being a large Island Nation Celtic Britain would have been a maritime power just like a Germanic England was, we probably would be speaking a Brythonic Celtic language similar to Welsh today in the US.

Did you check the accuracy of the map that you labelled from your memory?

What if we flipped this;
Having south Britain be romanised like Gaul or Iberia?

What's up with the 5-minute commercials? I just muted and switched to another tab until it was done. I might watch a 1-2 minute commercial... but 5 minutes? That's ridiculous

Briton wasn't a useless continent. They have large amounts of iron, gold, silver & timber.

Good job I really enjoy this. I appreciate the knowledge you have of the location of the tribes outside the roman empire's border and the roman city enclaves in britain. They were interesting facts.

Now let’s go the other way. Just suppose for what ever reason, whilst the rest of the western Roman empire collapsed, the three legions remained in Britain

I just got an idea: what if Korea invaded and conquered Japan in a similar way to how the Normans invaded England
