I think the analysis is correct. Kim is trying to portray himself as a family man, a 'softer' leader in contrast to his father and grandfather. I mean it's a bit early for him to be presenting a successor.

This is actually a very good analysis, most observers think this is him presenting his successor, when in fact he is trying to craft an image of the “family man”, he and his sister are playing good cop bad cop, his sister is the one that’s radical, with the strong rhetoric, while Kim Jong un presents himself as a new softer leader, more in touch with the common people, a father.

After a specialist for North Korean politic scene, ever since she’s been appearing in public or political events, step by step, her appellation or title has been escalated from a simple “cherished daughter of..” to “endearing comrade, the daughter of..” by military and party officers. This means she is getting recognition as political successor in NK.
