Actor Tom Felton discusses new memoir, 'Harry Potter,' and learning to accept help

Actor Tom Felton talks with CBS News correspondent Anthony Mason about his new memoir, "Beyond The Wand: The Magic and Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard," and his days on the set of "Harry Potter." Felton also shares how he overcame personal challenges and learned to accept help when friends staged an intervention about his drinking.

I met a guy who met him in person while volunteering for comic con. He said Tom was probably the most humble guy he met. Tom stayed after hours and had a little girl skip the line so that she could go home for bed and still get his autograph. He was also incredibly nice to the staff and asking if they needed anything.

Just finished reading Tom's book today. As silly as it is, I watched HP for the first time during the 2020 lockdown and became a huge fan. Then when Draco Tok happened, I became a huge fan of Tom. I think he is an amazing and humble individual and I am so glad he got through all his tough times. ❤

One thing is sure, the cast of Harry Potter has the biggest heart. I´ve never heard anyone say a bad word about any of the people being cast in the films. Really sad to hear that Tom struggle with addiction but so brave to talk about it. It can help so many others that are going through the same thing. Love that they all keep in touch. They all seem to be the sweetest people ever!

I have read the book and I have to say that I have enjoyed every bit of it. When I got to the final pages, it kind of almost broke me in a way. I deal with mental health issues, and I never realized how much his mental health was affecting him in a way. When reading the book, I think that no matter how much we admire the actor, musician, etc. we forget as humans that they are all human just like any of us. I commend Tom Felton that he showed the amount of courage he had by writing this book for all of us to understand him in a different way. I recommend the book for those who have not read it yet. I'm glad to see that he's doing a lot better, and I wish nothing but the best for him in life. Thank you again Tom and I really enjoyed reading your book.
