I am diehard dairy, but in the past year or so I’ve started occasionally drinking Califia Oat Milk when I’m not having my once-a-day 8 oz. 1% skim milk mixed with date sugar, instant espresso, and ~4 oz. heavy whipping cream — I said “diehard, ” right? — for breakfast. Califia is what’s on my Florida Publix shelf, and I don’t add any sugar to anything other than my “breakspresso” in the morning. If I need anything sweeter than natural, I use silan aka date syrup. But I can’t remember the last time I used it. I used to eat more meat, but now I eat mostly vegetables, chilies, rice, grains, and tofu. Unfortunately, I’m a dairy lover, and the side effect of many of my necessary medications is weight gain. I’ll let you draw your conclusions 😢

Have you tried oat milk yet? Have you switched? Or are you sticking with you favourite plant-based milk alternative?

I’m a milk addict. Oat milk is my favorite alternative milk that’s most like regular milk in thickness & taste, is great in heated items like hot chocolate & coffee (most other non-dairy milk types don’t heat well), and help lower bad cholesterol. Love Aldi’s Friendly Farms oatmilk & it’s affordable vs the $5 ones. Oatly is good too. Stay away from barista versions as those use more oils etc to make them creamier & are usually more fattening/sugary.
