All goodwills treat all donations like that. Even glass and electronics.

If you dont see them dump in a bin when you hand the box over, It will be dumped in a bin in the stockroom of the store.

Most thrift shops are like this.

Also my local Friends Of Library doesnt check merch for Mold. I have gotten multiple items with mold. Books, vhs and laserdisc.

I do reorganise, but rarely get rid of books; that's really down to the fact I'm really choosy when I buy and any proofs to back to work. My wife and I met as booksellers in the 1980s, so books abound in our household. My wife had a fiction purge a few years back, as she's really a military/history buff, but I'm very much a keeper. I did take a few unwanted books into work for the staff room, ideal for fellow booksellers to peruse, but I suppose I'm lucky, my packed bookshelves are full for a reason! I do re-read a lot (going through my Ray Bradbury backlist at present)

You have so many books (glad I'm not alone LOL). So nice that you have multiple places to store them - thanks for the tour!

Yay, thanks for the Friends shoutout! I volunteer at my local one. I can't donate to our prison, they said they have too many books already. Really admire your religion section! Always been curious about the holy books of other religions. We've kept several of our college books as well

What's the philosophy behind having the spines turned towards the back of the bookshelf? Is it just to simplify the look?

I left A LOT of books in perfect condition in the "book exchange tree" at out local library, and people took them all in a big box to SELL them at a second hand books shop (they probably got 10€ for all of them), where they are sold for 3-6€ each. I felt like crying. I am never doing that again. I'm sorry for the people who would take and READ them, but I am not risking it. =( I don't know where to bring them, really. So sad. Fucked up society. 0 culture and education here in Spain. =(
