I make as many knots as possible. I'm a rebel 😎. No fr lol I make knots to feel secure about starting and ending my thread and my work is still flat. It all works out.

If you start from the top left you need to be very careful you have enough room for the design. I think starting in the middle would be easier, and it's usually marked in the pattern.

Most patterns you start from the middle.
Makes it easier to figure out how much border to leave around the edges.

why not use a loop start, if you're using 2 threads??

And it depends on how big is the square on the aida cloth the strands you need will change
