I thought there was going to be an actual solution, not a question about how often you think about food.🤔 I've been bulimic (including 6 years as a non-purging bulimic) for about 40 years. The only thing that has ever helped me stop binging and obsessing over food is getting rid of food rules and making nothing off-limits. Once I know I can eat whatever I want, it gives me the clarity to feel whether I really need to eat. It also helps me to better discern whether I have an actual appetite or if I'm being triggered emotionally. It's not easy, because on top of those things you're also trying to eliminate the habit and, in addition, find another healthier way to cope with life and get your dopamine fix without destroying your health. I'm (knock on wood), 18 days into not binging or overeating, but I'm also undereating by default. I'm embracing the empty feeling in my stomach and waiting for my body to "tell" me when to eat. Yes, I'm an extremist. At my worst, my ED was a mix of every disordered behavior around food, and I would have probably been diagnosed as having EDNOS or atypical anorexia. For now, eating like this is giving me more peace than bulimia ever could, and I don't feel like I'm forcing myself not to eat. I just don't care to throw my money, thoughts and time away on food, anymore.😓💔
