FILM DESCRIPTION:
Hoosiers tells the true story of a group of underdogs who become champions. Set in the 1950s, Hoosiers is about a hard-luck, unemployed college basketball coach (Gene Hackman) who gets a chance to coach a small-town Indiana high-school basketball team. Facing resentment from the community and the team itself, Hackman manages to inspire his young athletes, leading them to the state championship with the help of the assistant coach (Dennis Hopper), who happens to be a recovering alcoholic.

I'm 45, and I moved to town of Knightstown 17 years ago where much of this movie was shot and the "Hickory" gym still stands. Literally NOBODY has said one bad thing about Gene Hackman. He stayed hours after filming daily to talk with locals and ate solely at local mom and pop restaurants. An absolute class act through and through. R.I.P.

What an amazing moment. Yes. Of course. Acting. But kids dream of this. Few experience this. Gene Hackman was spectacular in this role. The viewpoint. The music hit emotions deep inside everyone that has blood go through them. One of best movies about sports and emotions ever. That and Rudy. Just spectacular!!!
