This is the story of how I used to hate the city I live in, Vancouver, and now I really appreciate it for what it has to offer.

I love how you shared that problems are an inevitable part of life and you can't blame a place or anything about it.
Rather, to focus on what we have now and make the most out of it and as you said, Explore!

I live in a small village in the middle of Lebanon and I've been stuck at home from 3 years till now, I spent my senior year in highschool at home and now I'm in 2nd year of college, studying engineering and still stuck at home.
With a huge huge huge economic crises that we were forced to live.
I realized a lot and grew up and learned to appreciate what I have now,
Eventually I'm gonna make it out of here, but until then, there's a thousand different beautiful things that I appreciate being a part of, right here.

Thank you very much for this video. I've been living in a small town, right under a factory, for 4 years and a half now, and there's not much I can do to move away from there.

It's true, we have to learn to see the beauty of the place we live in, even if there's little beauty around us.
But it's a great exercise, it teaches us to appreciate what we have and to be a peace no matter how big the war inside us is. To this point it's been a lot of up and downs, and I expect some more to come, but I'm grateful for all I learnt.

I think also one big point is to find people with whom you can spend time and be happy with, because in my opinion they can help you perceive the city in a way different way, making you appreciate it even further.
When I'm out with my friends, my town seems such a cool and fantastic place.

I hoped you could give us more precise advice on "how to fall in love with a city you hate".
But I appreciate the effort anyway, there aren't many videos about this topic out there and yours seems to be one of the best. Thank you!

this video came to me RIGHT at the moment I am beaten down living in Chicago similar mindset that it'll be fixed instantly in a different region. I am from Brooklyn originally and did not feel that community even within spaces that were never fully welcomed (ex being queer and trans) and yet Chicago made me see how much I needed genuine friends and care beyond my homelife. now I am trying so hard to go back to NYC because the life I want and need is within reach and range. After all, I've fought so hard to bring it to Chicago. so thank you for this.

I hate Australia so much, it’s so incredibly isolating and the ability to travel the world is very limited and expensive.i hate the heat and the beach which is the sole appeal of Australia, I’m trying so hard to deal with it but the thought of leaving my family abroad is too much

Great topic. I used to live in Seattle and often visited Vancouver. Now I am in Tokyo, which is one of those cities that has everything, but it is also a busy city where it is hard to slow down and enjoy life with friends and an easy going pace like was possible in Seattle. I miss Seattle but know there were motivations that led me to move and I love/hate Tokyo which is amazing but takes some patience, effort and creativity to build a happy existence here. You are right, it is up to us to make a city work for us. But if you are willing, it is worth the work. Great video,

It’s so funny how different people are. Having visited Vancouver, it would be a dream come true to move there. I stumbled upon this video because I’ve always struggled to like where I live (I’ve lived in metro-Detroit basically my whole life). I guess there are pros/cons for living anywhere, though we may fit in some places better than others.

this is great but i live somewhere where there is absolutely NO beauty to be found, no where near me. i need to know how to fall in love with a city that I hate that doesn't have things to love about it.

Thank you. Sometimes we are blind to things, especially if we end up moving somewhere worse after. 😜

I must say from what I see (I’ve only been to Montreal so far) that Canadian cities are just as depressing as American cities.🫤
