How to Fall in Love — Bishop Barron’s Sunday Sermon

Friends, our readings this weekend have to do with biblical anthropology—or who we are in the presence of God—and the Christian understanding of marriage. A basic intuition of the Bible is that we begin not with the individual, but with community. And marriage is the most beautiful and intense form of this friendship God desires for us.

I'm 30yr old female, dated guys for a short time, virgin, realized i was so wrong on my view about marriage, its either a burden of responsibilities or a euphoria of romance.

this is video is what I needed and now I'm guided. Please pray for me my fellow Christians. I'm starting to rebuild my life by serving others and my community and hopefully one day, there's a man with the shared purpose that will be my best friend and husband in my life. I pray for every single ones here that we continue with faith in God. all the love ❤

How beautiful it is to think that you are with someone not just because you are in love with each other but more so because God permitted and blessed it to happen.

Fulton Sheen’s book “Three to Get Married” points to God as the “transcendent third” in a good marriage. The spouses don’t just cling to each other (like two drowning people, he says!) but rather both cling to God. My experience as a married person is that Sheen was right.

The best homily I've heard on marriage. 48 years later through hard times and easier times it is truly a great gift from God. Bishop, you encourage so much with your content and style. May God continue to bless you and give you many years of service to our needy world.

Even further than the two people coming together under the guidance of God and producing children, this gospel passage also depicts the children, who are produced by the parents, running full force towards Christ, who accepts them whole-heartedly. Christ is so accepting of children. Let us too welcome the children into our lives and ultimately bring them towards Christ through proper education, which is necessarily caring, loving, and intellectually guided by the wisdom of the Church.

"That we belong in society, in community, that we belong together, is a fundamental intuition of Biblical anthropology." - BISHOP ROBERT BARRON

I'd tried to work things out logically, both for myself and past relationships, yet everything failed. I used to whine about God not bringing my soulmate to my life despite my efforts. Then I realized in the Genesis, Adam didn't whine about being single, then God put him in a deep sleep and "sleeping" in the Bible indicates "not paying attention". I'm now still single but i'm hopeful, and this might sounds naive but the bottom line is, those who feeling lonely just keep doing the works that God has brought to you, and when the time comes, you will find your blessing soulmate

Maybe that’s why I feel comfort when close to those who are close to me like hugs and laughter.

Having brownies and ice cream while watching Bishop Barron is pure bliss 😋.

At the end I had this realization looking at the the Bishop on screen, that he was someone’s son, that he came about through the love of his parents and them entering into this union under God that bore it’s fruit of children that now play a pivotal part in the community (especially with Robert Barron, imparting us with such great wisdom and knowledge). You could probably trace this back to many individuals other than the Bishop as well.

Thank you Bishop Barron and the Word on Fire team for teaching us how important community and Catholic marriage is. May God continue to bless your ministry!

Marriage as a vocation. Never thought about it in those terms but have often commented how marriage takes work. Truly great perspective! Thanks Bishop Barron!

48 years with my spouse. Bishop Barron points out there are three in the marriage bond. Man, Women and God. I tell people that if God is not part of our marriage we would have left each other on several occasions. He was there to pull us back into our friendship. A lot of that glue is our Catholic faith.

As my (very religious) mother ever told me: without passion (between a man and a woman) there is nothing. My parents have about the best relationship I have ever witnessed, important note.
