It can be completely free or mostly paid. It's entirely up to a player. The choice is truly ours. Tons of people dump their paychecks into it and are happy. Others don't pay a dime and they're also happy. Others pay a little and play a little in their own measure. Personal preferences.

To be fair, you can trade items with other players for platinum, but as others have said, you also can get discounts for daily login reward, from 25% to 75%, and some platforms have extra platinum with purchase coupons, from 25% to 125% from what I've seen.

To this day, been playing since Mesa came out YEARS AGO, I made 18k platinum, own a total of 12 primes, all grinded myself, I own at least 2 skins for every one of my frames, my orbiter looks like a modern appartment

ALL THAT, completely free of charge

Now did I spend 10 years grinding a minimum 4h everyday to get there? Sure! But it’s still dope that I can do that

Been playing it for 3 months and not spent a thing. Have plenty of warframes, mods and weapons to farm steel path with zero issues and enjoy it. It's pay to speed up, not pay to win or compete which is how games should be.

I once grinded super hard in the trade chat and earned enough of the in-game currency to buy Mirage Prime when it was new. You really don't have to spend money, but it does take consistency, dedication, and luck to get some of the better items as a free player.

Warframe is one of those games you want to spend money on because its actually good and respects your time and investment.

In case anyone doesn't know yes that is in game currency which you can buy BUT thing is you don't have to buy the currency and instead you can sell items to other players for that currency so yes the game is completely free with the option to buy things

The only thing in warframe that requires money is a few cosmetic items called tenno gen

Honestly the roughest part of the ftp nature for warframe is the 3day build times for warframes which is real rough when you only have 1. And than getting more weapon slots/ orokin reactor, catalyst however the nightwave system has helped significantly with that.

It's free but you can only level up by leveling up your weapons and armor but you won't have the storage capacity to get more armor or weapons unless you spend real money or trade with other players

Game is free but takes 20 years get all the stuff because everything takes at least half a day to build for free

Theres no mandatory dlcs to buy since most content gets tacked to the main story, but you can pay to skip some grinds that are otherwise tedius or too time consuming.

Its okay if you dont have time to grind for a necramech, the story gives you one anyway now. Its okay if you dont want to fight the same boss over and over for specific materials or warframe parts. You can wait the full 3 days to build a warframe and just do other things or you can skip the timer. Nobody will judge

yeah slots do cost money, you can buy them instead of chaninging out weapons but yeah you still get those for free too. NW does give slots just not enough for F2P to keep everything

It is technically free but you will never make as much progress as people who do spend and it takes forever
