I’ve been going through this for years now, and I noticed it happens when I use soap, sponge on my skin, cold or hot water it makes my thigh and leg sting and itch makes me wanna go crazy, I mostly punch myself or hit something on the itchy part, tried lots if soap liquid and bar soap, even tried adding a disinfectant to my bathing water, tried different type of water, well, tap, rain, it’s all the same, and I don’t get any rash, my skin looks fresh and clean, had to search online about it and discovered I have this disease, that’s why I’m here to know more about it, I tried bathing with only water today and just my butt itch for like 5secs and that’s all, so no more soap for me, I’ll just shower with cold water, hot water makes it worse plus I don’t use towel to dry my skin I just air dry Thank you ❤️

I've had this issue my whole life. Believe me I've tried everything but. Hot showers help like really hot hot showers or doing an intense workout before showering . Taking a quick shower then immediately patting myself then putting on clothes immediately. Like within 20 secs. It's different for everyone but the common thing is that 20 minute intense itch after showering. It's suicide inducing

I have been diagnosed with Aquagenic Pruritus after an allergic reaction to some medication which caused chronic hives for about a month back in December. The hives went away but that prickly/tingly sensation all over still happens as soon as the water hits my skin in the shower or when I sweat every time. I take Beta Alanine and it does work, but wears off within an hour, so if my workouts last longer than 45 minutes, then the prickly feeling starts. This can be problematic especially because I follow my workouts with a shower. It’s also problematic when suffering from hot flashes and night sweats as you can’t predict when they happen to take a Beta Alanine as a precursor. So to all of the people that suffer from either Aquagenic Pruritus or Aquagenic Utticara, you have my sympathy.

29 years old man from Belgium here. I have this condition and thought i would jump in to let you know about this : Anti histamine have never worked for me and many with this condition but its known that Beta Alanine [ a pre workout ] works absolutely amazing for this. When i take it, i can take a shower an hour after without a problem. In our support group on facebook someone found that when they took beta alanine the itching goes away. Everybody in this group swears by it, its like a miracle. No idea who found this first but its crazy and it should be known ! Its very interesting because beta alanine gives you this tingling sensation lol, its nothing compared to our terrible torture itching tho.

Have a good day !

It’s crazy how many people have this I thought I was the only one for the longest time, my mom also had it which is crazy . I’ve had it since I was like 10 & im 29 now ;( it’s really the worse like I can’t go in pools, the ocean, the lake, have to stay away from a lot of water activities. The only thing that helps me is Benadryl but it knocks me out lol 😴

I started having this issue years ago. About 12 years now. I'm 49 now. It started with a little tingle in particular areas of my body, mainly legs. From then to now it has gotten worst. Makes you feel like you're about to go crazy. Uncontrollable itching and it goes on for 5-25 minutes. It's

A few years ago the topic came up with a friend as I noticed he had installed a water softener. The funny thing is I was just about to install a water softener as well in an effort to find a solution. I really thought the water quality was my issue as times I went on business trips and stayed in hotels the condition wasn't near as bad. He discribed the exact same issue I was having and said he install the water softener thinking it would help. It didn't. He told me he had his own remedy which was coming straight out of the air conditioned room and into a hot shower. I nearly shit my pants as this was exactly what I had recently started doing .
So I've been doing this ritual every single day for years now.
Time to get this problem SOLVED. Im tired!
I've as a big grown man had to, on many occasions, pull on the side of the street to scream as the itchy was just unbearable and not knowing the cause was just mind boggling.

This is ruff. Happy I found you guys.

I have it and didn’t realize it was a thing you can diagnose. Luckily my itching only lasts 5-10 min and subsides after I briskly rub my skin or apply heat or cover up to help keep cool air off it. I can’t imagine having a severe case as it’s so intense as it is.

my son has had this for about 7 years now its gutting to watch, the intensity comes and goes over the months, we've done filters, bathing in spring water, swimming in salt water- when it's bad rain sweat or the ocean causes this. he is a tough teen and this itching will bring him to his knees in tears, i'm praying and searching, Dr's are of no help so far didn't even chart it right, he gets no visible rash and they charted him for a referral as a rash and skin abrasion. It's frustrating, and i'm scared for his future, we are currently started the BA supp, and I'm searching for a place to get the NBUVlight, He's done vegan, DF, GF, no soap - organic soap, spring water showers, I'm praying this goes away.

I’m a 21 year old in Ghana 🇬🇭, this disease is so bad, when I’m going crazy after bath people think I’m overreacting. Any cold this that touches me after bath just sprinkles burning stinging sensation from my ankles to my chest.

I have a severe form of this. Beta Alanine is a supplement that can stop a reaction and has worked for many people that actually have Aquagenic Puritus or Aquadynia. Take enough of it that it makes your lips start to tingle and no more (taking more will cause vomiting). Effect of Beta Alanine takes 15 to 45 minutes to take effect. You can take it 30 minutes before contact with water to prevent a reaction. Feel free to message me if you have this and are looking for more information on it or Beta Alanine. Cheers..

After 18 years of my life, I finally came across what my condition is. My mom and I both itch severely after showering /bathing. In my case, the itch would happen quite often after taking showers of lukewarm to cold water, so I completely eliminated taking lukewarm or cold showers and substituted it with hot and I mean hot water. That was the worst idea ever because now I experience the itching almost every day, yay 🙂
